Yeah the NLA is getting to be pretty booked up in advance. Best thing you can do is try and cherry pick a few days that are open way out on the calendar and hope for the best. I feel like September and October always deliver, but the boat gets alot of charters that time too.

There we guys on the boat who were doubting leaving when we only got 2 fish in 8 hours. Then that night bite was 6 fish in one hour...

Offshore New Lo-An 1.5 day charter Cortez bank YT and some Tank BFT 8/29-8/31 report

Short report: 68-70 deg water at cortez bank, clean water, anchor fishing was very slow in the mornign. 9 YT 20-30lb, 8 Bonito, 3 BFT (15-20lb) 30lb line and size 2 J hook worked for everything there. Mid day we ran between the banks and skipped yummys for 2 BFT (204 lb and 143 lb) was still...

Offshore 8/23-8/25 New Lo-An Company Charter 1.5 day (BFT Limits)

Jim, every fish was caught on bait. There were a few people who would try iron, colt sniper, stick bait, etc on occasion when the fish would boil up but there was no joy on any of those offerings. The Captains name is Marcus Medak. A gentleman named Adam normally runs the boat but Marcus is the...

Typically its between 8-10pm depending on where the fish are. Most of the time you get back bewteen 5-7am. I love em because you get to fish all day from dark to dark and you only have to take one day off of work.

Offshore 8/23-8/25 New Lo-An Company Charter 1.5 day (BFT Limits)

The quick and dirty - we fished tanner bank all day. It was a slow but steady pick. 48 BFT and 1 YF for the boat. The long and clean version - this was my first time chartering the NLA. Ive been on the boat many times. Everyone was checked in and ready to go at 9pm and we left right on time...

Ok the quick and dirty part first. 36/35 to 30/33 was where we were all day today. Morning slack tide produces random foamers for run n gun for nada. We threw poppers, colt snipers, jerk baits and live bait for nada. Then we put the daisy chain cedar out and a black and purple skirt on troll...

6/19/2020 Short story - 31.55 -117.27 was where we saw all the action for the day. No fish to show for it though. Long story - Launched out of Shelter Island at 330am. We were 5th in line at the bait store. Once we got 3rd position they ran out of bait and had us drive around to the other...

Offshore Line to line knot vs. Swivel for mono to flouro connection

Ok so here it goes... Does anyone know the advantage / disadvantage of using a barrel swivel / rolling swivel to connect mono to flouro? There is a high emphasis on line to line knots, but by using a swivel you could avoid line twist. Not sure it is significant but curious if its been tested...
