Swap the hook out. Used 42 gm Candy Iwashi 2 wks ago and got bit. However, sardine was more productive. Chunking was tried by some wo success. Sniper was fun to toss from the bow and to get away from the crowd.
I love and baby my boat. No one should be throwing a jig or a sinker at anyone's boat. Potentially putting a hole in your fiberglass and you know the rest. Bottomline a-holes everywhere, not just on the water. Some dude on a nice Parker was literally right behind my chum line on 226 on...
My BofA teller was on that boat over the weekend and he was telling me about the deckhand selling the YT filets. Boat is out of Davys Locker and the name starts with F. Groupon weekend specials. I thought this crap only happened in Hawaii. Not cool. Hope it was just one bad apple.
Fishy boat. Chartered whole season. Rarely any open parties. I was on a 3 day charter last year on PV. We fished Punta Colonet on the first half and then the skipper took us all the way upto SCI for the bft's that were caught on flat falls at the time.
Anyone know how I can reach BD SWAG for customer service. I ordered stickers for my boat but got a T-shirt instead. I sent them 3 emails since last week and nothing. Any other means to reach these guys? T-shirt is like 3 sizes too big as well so it's pretty much useless. TIA.
Sitting in Shogun galley now reading your report, thanks. No expectations for now, bft will be a bonus if I nail one tomorrow. Beautiful weather and the boat looks like it got a face lift. Very clean and tidy.
I haven't been on Shogun for awhile but will be on it next week. Friend told me Kenny the chef is gone. Shogun confirmed that he's been gone for a year. BUMMER! I loved that guy. His food was better than 5 star restaurants in OC that I have been to. TGIF.
Blue Avet HX 5/2 is packed with 320 yds of brand new 130 lb braid. It hasn't seen water yet. Can easily splice the braid for more capacity with 80 or 100. Rod is near new. $600 for both. Sorry but firm for now.
This question will result in all different answers. Turbo guides are just as good as rollers wo the additional weight, etc and etc...... I would prefer rollers with a 150 lb bluefin pulling tho. Your preference. I like it. Some say more maintenance but little lube job is not really a...
Assholes. Thinking that we were born yesterday or just plain stupid. At the end, wasting our time with bogus questions. Sadly, I bet there are ppl that fall for these kind of shit. Good that you did your homework and realized that it was a scam. Ty for sharing with BD.
It cruises at 25mph and that's what I prefer. I had 3 ppl with gear going 30 mph from HB to Redondo NP. Boat is light. Prob less than 1500 lbs wo passengers. I prefer fishing with one other angler tho or solo. Hope that helps.
Near new Abu Garcia Promax 3 with 20 lb braid and 20 lb Izor XXX top shot. You can easily replace the top shot to 15 lb mono. Power handle as well.
Also have Shimano 15/30 Star with packed with Izor XXX 20 lb top shot. $70 for either one. Both in great condition!

I just booked my first long range on RP 6 day trip in September. I'm considering getting a heavier rod since my heaviest bait rod is Calstar 700M and also have 760L and 760H. Do you recommend a heavier rod and if so, 700H or 700XH? Likely will use Avet HX 2 speed on it. TIA.
Call me with the
Call me with any further Q's. Answer is yes since I only need to just top off about 6 gallons. And the range and tank size is in the Ad. If real serious, come and see the boat. I still use the boat and it rocks. Probably will be out on Saturday for taco meat. O/W GL with...
Fill up on the way back from fishing/outing and once you get home pour the amount of oil in. Easy routine that works for me. Dont like to do too many things in AM before fishing. Most will agree :) Btw, 64 inches in the garage on the trailer.
It's in my garage right now so it will definitely fit in any garage. I work on the boat in the garage on my trailer wo having to hunch over. But cant open up the bimini on the boat when in the garage.
You mix oil in the fuel tank so not a fuel injection OB. Hope that answers all ur Q's. :)
Capt Gavin's priority were yellowtails. Rockfish was just a bonus imo. I think that's why PQ's counts were much better than other boats that were literally fishing from a swim distance from us. We were moving and searching constantly for yellowtails. Yes PQ/Gavin had it dialed in.
First time on P Queen for us. Gavin worked hard for us and got us on nice grade yellowtails and the rockfish were a nice addition. Crew were all professional and nothing but +++! Mike cooked up delicious meals and were opened to customized orders. Staterooms were a nice option as well.
Dang. $50. Good that you hooked up at Izor. I think whitefish are in force 365 days at Izor. Hahaha.
Sanddabs and Rockfish were very active by the rigs on Sunday. I had to relocate to avoid the rockfish.
17' 1997 Aquasport CC with 1997 2 stroke Evinrude 48hp. Around upper 375 hrs. Fits in the garage. Both cylinders with 150 psi. Impeller, gear oil and water fuel separator filter changed recently. One kick start everytime. 6 mpg. WOT 30 mph. 20 gallons built in fuel tank.
Always garaged by...
I have a 17' 1996 Aquasport CC with 1997 Evinrude 48hp. Around upper 300hrs. Solid. I bought it few mos ago but want to upgrade to a 21' walk around now. Let me know if interested? You can afford this wo a partner and store it in the garage which is the best part. Both cylinders 150psi.
I can't store my boat on my driveway. I'm in the market to purchase a 21' walk around. Anyone willing to give up part of their driveway for a fee? Anywhere near Irvine will be nice. Will also gladly add you as my fishing buddy :)
Yes too early to tell but why not just buy a solid 30 lb rod and a reel. I would do Calstar 700 ML or M with Avet MXJ. Have it packed with 40 lb braid and have 3 top shots ready to go (25, 30 and 40 lb florocarbon). Learn to tie the braid to mono if not comfortable already. I use Albright...
Packed with 30lb Izor braid and 25 lb smoke Izor-XXX top shot. My OCD kept it in mint cond without a single scratch or any boat rash. Good for the next owner. Lol. Lowered again to $130 for a mint mxj. Priced to sell. Thanks. Add $10 if need it to be shipped.
I agree. The fact that I even posted this post should be a sign. I ll listen to my inner voice as well.
Pacific Voyager and Tribute both cancelled their trip departing Friday AM as well. I was planning on hopping on Pacific Voyager. No fishing over 4 day weekend. Bummer!
If I recall, Redondo is a boat harness service and not ur typical launch ramp. Correct me if I am wrong guys. I have never used the service and don't know much about it. Otherwise MDR will work. Sunset Aquatics is in Huntington Harbour. Too far for you imho. GL. Catch some bones tomorrow...
Nice! Did it again. I didn't have much luck on Horseshoe last week. Maybe I should get out of my comfort zone and venture out to Redondo. But I don't get why the bones love Redondo so much? Obviously it's not the water temperature. Anyone know the answer?
Rod is med-hvy 10-20 but moreless 10. Quantum reel works well with upgraded new stock handle from a new Abu Garcia reel. Nice set up for bass or macs for bait. Or let ur kids abuse the hell out of it. $25 for both. Pick up in Irvine. Thanks.
Left Sunset Aquatics around 7 and did not want to journey to Redondo where all the sporties have been limiting out on bones lately. Went upto the green buoy to try my luck, it paid off. 3 bonitos on the troll with feathers and some macs too (annoying). Pretty much ended up doing 1/4 mile...
Epidemic is a perfect description. LB, Catalina, and SD. What a turn off to hooping. It was for me. I will not pick up any hoops from Turner's. Maybe the hoopers are trying to discourage noobs like me? It worked. Lol.
Went out of Sunset Marina yesterday and tried the break wall and it wasnt productive so made a run for the Shoe. Saw a dozen boats parked so i veered south and it payed off. My first catch on my new boat on a first solo trip. All caught on troll with feathers. They r still out there. Nice to...
You do have a point there
You have a crystal ball? Lol. Im more hopeful for Sunday. Even if fishing sucks, it ll be good times catching up with a friend. Btw, did anyone comment on where to make mac bait? Lol.
Planning on heading out of Sunset Aquatics on Sunday but need to make some mac bait. Any recomm on where to make some quick bait? Are the local yellowtails biting small macs as well or should i go buy some sardines? TIA.
I'm thinking of ordering a T-top from Amazon for my 21' Striper CC. Any recommendations on a reasonable place for installation in OC and which T-top is also recommended from Amazon. Not wanting to spend thousands. TIA.
Agree with heavier braid. My 80 lb braid sawed off instantly once it crossed another braid. Other braid was only a 60 lb'er. I just got 135 lb braid yesterday in case I'm given another opportunity for my next trip.
I hooked up a cow bft last week on a tld 30 wo any upgrades. Fought it for 5 min wo any problems then got sawed off. It was a blast. Bft that were brought up on that stop were 120 and 160 lbs. Hope that answers your question. Now im addicted and wanting my next opportunity .
Good to hear of the new ownership/captain. I personally did not like Prowler's previous operation. Food sucked and never gave enough of it. I was willing to buy two meals, but they didn't have anymore to sell. Wth. No I'm not obese. Lol.
Boat never traveled enough distance compare to...
Do you have any idea how much to total weight is about including the trailer? I have a 6 cylinder 3.8 liter Porsche Cayenne two wheel drive. Use to tow and launch a 20 ft CC without any issues, but obviously your boat is bigger and heavier. Hate to see my car disappear.... LOL. Thanks.
I am headed down to Tamarindo during Thanksgiving week. Will be at Tamarindo for few days after Arenal sightseeing. How is inshore fishing in late November? Is it worth while to charter a boat? If so, any one in particular? I have been spoiled this season with great S CA fishing. Thanks!
Yup I saw red flags before the trip. The bonehead captain did not reply to phone calls and emails, but it's also not cool to bail out on a trip that your friend set up. Hoping to spare fellow BD fishermen the trouble. Dont assume you are the only one that is capable of doing homework.
We chartered a boat from them and it really sucked. The deckhands were doing the fishing so they can keep the fish for themselves. I assume that they were going to sell it. When my friend wanted to take the filets, they offered him 2 Mahimahis and charged him $7/lb on the rest. I found...
Built 2008, but sold new on 2010 by a local dealer. Due to busy work schedule, rarely used. Sitting pretty on a dry dock most of the time. I believe it is 20 to 21 ft long with less than 200 hrs on the Yamaha 150 (4 stroke). Yamaha extended warranty until 2016. Everything works with a...
From where you are, Punta Mita is much closer. Punta Mita is like San Diego, and PV is like Oceanside. You would be regressing if you drove down to PV. Hope that helps. I just came back from PV and plan on going back this year. We will be staying at Punta Mita, and will be fishing with Capt...
We just returned from PV and had a great 6 hr inshore/panga trip. It was our first time catching Jack Crevalles, and look forward to going back next year for something even bigger.
Shout out to Luis Blanco and Salvador, both worked hard to put us on the fish. Thank you.
Good article written by Erik that you can read if you haven't done so. It does seem unethical, but hand held GPS can come handy. I am sure you will not be the first. Read some older postings here as well. Also try talking to your local tackle shop owner(s). These guys have been fishing the...
I am now realizing that Punta Mita is quite a distance from PV. It will be a daunting (and maybe expensive) task to get all 3 boys up early and be at Punta Mita by 7 AM for the charter since they will all be on vacation mode. Are there any good super panga(s) at PV that we can consider...
Not sure where your hotel is exactly, but we have stayed at Dreams Puerto Adventura in the past right next to the Puerto Adventura Marina. There are boats that you can charter there. They are negotiable. Fishing was mostly bottom fishing and we caught a nice Pargo one yr. Tackle sucked...
Ya, who am I kidding x2
At least you learned another word.
Not many of us can go fishing during the week so Aly's report toward the end
of the season is priceless. Don't you ever ever discourage him from posting again. I'm still pissed that Aly's had to post another picture with all of his...
Class is over. I don't want to be tangential, so I'll stop here. Hope you learn ur lesson (ya, who am I kidding)! Not everyone here will agree with you or look like you, so be ready to take the heat if you decide to speak ur little mind again. I do have my own boat to fish on. Capital L...
Will likely be on a panga doing inshore fishing. If I can take only one reel, what line would you guys recommend? I know that they have good tackle on the boat already, but I think it will be cool to take a reel or two.
I am planning on heading down to PV in December. How is the inshore fishing in December? Prefer inshore fishing for now, since I ll be fishing with my boys. Is captain Lora my best bet? Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.
OL's website use to have the length and the beam #s in the past. I think the beam is more closer to 18. Passing someone on the side rails can be a challenge. There must be a good reason why we can't find the specs anymore on their website. It is a very tight boat. Eclipse on the other hand...
