    Calling all Hoo Experts

Yes, Mike told me almost the same thing as he was not surprised by this novices success at all. He said young ladies in high school listen the best and they generally do the best by the end of the trip. He made me laugh and I added, "that all stops once they get married!" We both laughed.

If possible, the skipper will turn the boat as it slides to a stop. It is like casting to the "inside" of the imaginary circle the boat is sliding into. That is generally where the fish will end up.

    Calling all Hoo Experts

I have caught hundreds of those fish. In my opinion, most people overthink on how to catch them. When using bombs, speed is the key. The old, gold trinidad 20's along with the newell 440 are great with bombs. If you want to catch them on a bomb, when they yell hookup, run to the bow and cast to...

My guess is Aluminum oxide from the fuel tank. Internal corrosion most likely from sitting a long time with no fuel in the tank. There is no exact science in matching a hook to the bait. Too big of hook encumbers the bait and it can not swim naturally, which is what you want to fool the bluefin. Foam Filling a Bayrunner?

I had one for 15 years and loved it! Filling it with 2 part expanding foam will limit your ability to weld your hull if you need to repair that area. The foam will also trap the salt water and it will eat holes in the aluminum given time. One good solution I saw once that I thought might work...

    Yamaha F225 4stroke exhaust corrosion.

Andy told me that if the corrosion works its way to the engine block, then it is junk and you need a new power head or worse, an engine. I got lucky and my corrosion was still an inch or so below the mating surface. Do you feel lucky???

    new ramp for SQ ?

Hey Curt, We were there on New Years and saw the survey team taking their measurements. They said they would try to get it done during the low tides in February. Yamaha F225 4stroke exhaust corrosion.

Thats it all right! If you have some mechanical skills, you can do the job yourself with a few wrenches and an engine cherry picker. I got my parts at Simm marine. Talk to Andy, he has a kit, with or without an oil pump (which is easy to change once you lift the engine off the housing) Good luck.

Sorry we missed you Roy. We talked to Junior for a bit before we split that morning. See you found the same weather and great fishing we had also for the previous 4 days!! We will be back down around Feb 15 for a few days. Great job on the fish (especially the reds!)

Is it me or is the Torque 25n hard to huck lures?

I had to chuckle because I had the same problem with my 25N. The spool does spin very easy! Luckily I was on a 10 day trip and I had time to re-educate my thumb and by the end of the trip it was all good! Go fishing more and get some practice. It will get better with time on the water.

Slippery Ramp at Point Loma Landing

Just push your cart of fish to the incline of the ramp and leave it there for the young, strong, covered by employers insurance, red shirt guys to push it up the incline. I don't think there is much of a chance of slipping on the ramp if you never push the cart up the ramp.
