Using bait cages is a mistake. Use bait tubes made out of pvc pipe. The sea lions will get your bait from a cage but they leave the tubes alone. You can buy the 2" pipe and caps at Home Depot and make them yourself or you can buy premade tubes from Promar I believe.

    What do you call these?

The hangers are fine. It's the lip around the edge where the screws go through. Some of the corners are missing or cracked. They are fully functional. I would at least like to replace the black rubber bungs that the pole slides through. They are getting pretty bad.

I can't see how you could effectively fish off the breakwall being that the ocean side of it has a wide rock area extending out with maybe a few channels. You'd need to cast a very long way. The end of the breakwall drops into about 10 feet of water though.

No, I believed you but the conditions looked like they were improving. Actually it wasn't the bad seas that hurt the trip as much as not finding any paddies or other action.

Well went out this morning. At Dana Landing at 04:30. Then 1/2 scoop and headed directly west or so towards Obstruction Nick. It was dark and we took a lot of water over the bow. Didn't make it all the way out before turning south towards 9 mile bank (upper) around 7:30. No paddies to be...
