Skipjack 24 FB thru hull help.

I'd be willing to bet that many bilges in dry dock or on a trailer in the sun get upwards of 130 degrees on really hot days. It just so happens that 130 degrees is all you need to remove 5200. So unless every thru hull ducer is destroyed every time a bilge gets that hot, I think you'll be okay...

What I mean to say is if you need to remove the transducer, it's because the ducer is obsolete or broken, for the most part, so damaging it with heat isn't an issue. Unless you're worried about reselling the thru hull transducer, I don't think using heat would be a problem.

    Rhino lining as decking?

Kiwi grip is a single application and the aggressiveness is determined by the roller you use and whether you roll it after it starts to tack up. It doesn't take a ton, like TJ said. With a smaller boat, a gallon should be plenty but they give estimates on the site. I wouldn't use anything else...

I picked up 3 blanks for $40 from Squidco at the FH show to make into bay/chovie sticks. Anyone have any idea what brand they are? Guys at the booth didn't know. They are tough and have a good action, just curious on the manufacturer. 7' 15-25lb E-Glass

Just Google that one. I like it because I am familiar with the engine and can do all my own maintenance/fixes at sea. If you are commited to a 20' walk around/dual console, definitely don't rule out the Skippy 20 Open. Sometimes they come up for ridiculously good prices and they are a very sea worthy 20.

    I can't decide 99 seaswirl or 90 hydra-sport both 20' dual consoles

The Kevlar was not the entire hull, it was the keel and chines I believe. Kevlar reinforced fiber glass. Even then, not enough to make a huge difference, mostly a marketing ploy. The one we had was a 19' Hydra Skiff with a 130hp Johnson and was a solid boat and motor. I wouldn't hesitate to buy...

San Diego - Mission Bay advice

I've gotten most of my halis while fishing for bass on various swimbaits/spinner baits. I would grab some 3/8oz warbaits heads and a few 3" swimbaits and start fan casting from the rocks. Let it hit bottom and reel back painfully slow. Vary retrieve until you get bit then repeat!

    MOD CLOSE

Are you really trying to sell the grey Lexa 400 for $50-60 over eBay pricing as a (never-used) used item? Hate to bash posts but that is ridiculous.

Shimano Talica 8 vs Talica 10 vs Andros 5IIa for 35Ib.

There was also 100lb+ tuna in our waters so it's hard to say if even a 12 would have helped.

    The 31 Bertram Build

Easily going to be the best looking 31 Bertram on the West coast! Very, very sweet boat. Can't wait to see it in the water, I'm sure it's way harder for you.

just saw a free boat listing in CL

Looks like a really cool little inshore skiff project for someone. Has absolutely zero details though. I emailed him and will update if he answers.

Non-lethal and non-toxic. Slingshots with marbles work really well I've heard.

Black and Blue - 500lb Qualifier

I'm not sure if they know it or not, but the inventor of the Polygraph himself said that the machine was a hoax. It doesn't actually detect lies. It just measures signs that *could* be related to lying... Or sickness, or anxiety, or excersize, etc. BS that they use that as a determining factor.

New Lures, check, know the area, check, new line on reel, uh it should be fine

Check your rod tip, if the insert is cracked it shreds the line. Had this happen 3 times to me, mostly on cheaper rods.

mounting a Lexa 400 to deckhand rod

I agree with the plate style reel seat. That will be the most permanent and reliable but the easiest is Tib clamp.

    Almost spooled

There are also certain knots that won't give. That way you don't have electrical tape trapping saltwater against the metal spool. Search this topic, it has been discusses many times.

    17' SurfSki

I'm sorry, not a Radon. Not sure where that came from. They are great boats I'm sure, I've been on a couple, but never outside of the bay. All I'm saying is that they are not the best bang for your buck, like the OP was looking for. Slowest we've ever been forced to go was 18kts. 25kts in...

    17' SurfSki

I was running in next to a 24ft Radon the other day and they were taking a beating. It was surely rough out but with the deadrise on our Proline, we can hold 25kts in pretty much any conditions. Plus, the cost is super low and you get plenty of amenities. To each his own, I'll take the cheaper...

best cleaning chemical for removing dry tuna blood

If you are using compound, you need to be waxing wherever it is used afterwards or the next stain will be worse. Compound strips the wax and some gel coat off.

The Anderson guys are extremely proud of their boats and any slight or exact imitations are immediately inferior in their eyes. If you ask me, the Greenough boats are overpriced for what you get but I know many disagree. I'd rather take a well built, modern deep V for a lower price with more...

    This season really THAT good

I'd say this year will be remembered for it's unparalleled Wahoo and marlin fishing. Tuna fishing was okay, but the Wahoo fishing is ridiculous. Double and triple hookups within 4 miles of Mission Bay is insane.

    Shimano Vs Avet

I would never use a non level-wind model in fresh, and for that reason only I would go Calcutta. If strictly salt, Avet.

    Transducer Location

I was referencing the keel of the hull. There are guides on Google that can give you more specific info on angle and things like that better than I can.
  661. tanner.s

    Transducer Location

I see it now, so directly beneath the scupper drains and about 1" towards the keel should be your optimal mounting point. If you went through hull, it would improve your imaging significantly but putting another hole in the boat usually isn't a good idea if avoidable.
  662. tanner.s

    Transducer Location

Don't know what is on the bottom of the hull as far as through hull fittings and scoops go but directly beneath the scupper drains on either side should be the best location. If you take a picture of the bottom of your hull, we can pinpoint the location.

I'd agree, I had a fish snap my Shadowstalker last weekend when it hopped off of the deck of a kayak with a jig in its mouth and my rod nearly vertical in a rod holder. Exact same clean, crisp snap as you describe, about 8" from the tip. Second time I've snapped this particular model. First time...

If using a very long term product, like a bronze through hull, I'd use 5200 for it's more permanent properties. Anything that will be taken apart within a few years, 4200 will do it.
