    I love San Diego fishing

Mine is an AR 195, only a 19 footer. It holds 40 gallons and gets about 2.6mpg. I did 90 miles on this trip and still had a 25% reserve......just a single supercharged 250hp engine. I think the 24 has 2.

    Got some 10-22

Yellowfin to 12 lbs, dodo around 8, yellowtail 6, skippy 15. #2 hooks and 25 lb straight mono all on bait........threw the colt snipers and some surface irons, but got everything on bait, which was really good btw....... Tight lines!

    Got some 10-22

Wanna start by saying thank you to the crew and captain of the Tribute who fished a patty with many of us and then offered free bait when they decided to leave. The captain even got on the blower and told the deckys to chum as much as they could while they were leaving to keep the bite going for...

    Fishing tomorrow 10/22

I know this is the wrong board, but if anyone is going tomorrow, I'll be launching out of shelter tomorrow early....happy to team up on the radio and share intel. Call sign "Spartan" Probably the 371 area, unless someone has a better idea... Tight lines!

I have a jet boat, but not a jet that setup though and as the previous poster replied, that is definitely hard core!! Tight lines!

    Sat...tough day..

Sorry, it looks like the link doesn't work, but it was a copy and paste from the Thunderbirds Morning Report on Chip, the captain, did not seem pleased with the behavior out there today... I would concur,, especially with the radio chatter. People blaring music on channel 72 in the...

Sat...tough day.. Chips report from the Thunderbird says it all... To say it was a parking lot doesn't describe it. Watching the Yellowfin pop over the last two weeks, I finally made my yearly pilgrimage from Ventura County to San Diego figuring the odds were in my favor with the...

7/17 Nados Report and Non-fish Catch of a Lifetime!

Great read and ditto about the karma returning the rod to the owner! The comment about staying away from the tuna pens got me wondering if you saw anyone being boarded and asked for papers? Not just around the tuna pens, but in general around the huge Fleet that's been there this past week, has...

Good on ya....what bait if I might ask.....seems the swimbaits or hook up baits with red in them are the ticket. Might try tomorrow without the boat pressure. Thanks for the report.

Short video from solo trip this weekend

Only 20 gallons, and with running and gunning it sucks it up pretty fast....and I did spend most of the morning way down at the 371/425, so lots of sea miles...

Short video from solo trip this weekend

....that was backwards.......3 1/2 miles per gallon. It would do better if the engine wasn't supercharged with 215hp, but then it wouldn't be so fun either...

Short video from solo trip this weekend

About 3/12 per mile........I've had 10 boats in my lifetime, from my first 21 ft'er all the way to 38 feet. This is actually my favorite boat out of all of them due to it's simplicity. The jet drive is just a fan that spins, much like a jet engine, and it has required no parts/repairs...

Short video from solo trip this weekend

Love doing this once a year on my own....wife says I'm crazy, but there's nothing like literally doing everything yourself. Don't get me wrong, a bunk and a hot meal on a sporty is great, but when you've been fishing tuna for 30 years, you want to put that all together sometimes and just test...

    SW of Lower 9

I understand that point captain and I did hear someone mention on the radio that long soaks we're working and not to try to run in front of the dolphin, but I had done that all morning down at the 4:25 and it was not working. I've been fishing tuna for 30 years and in my experience your best...

    SW of Lower 9

I did. I figured I'd have a better chance staying in front of the ponies then staying still in bait fishing and the popper got hit instantly both times when I put it in the right place. It's been really good this season for many people on this board it seems, and it worked for me as well

    SW of Lower 9

Mike, you were absolutely right about that area SW of the 9. I stopped there in the am, and nothing was going on, so I pushed South. In retrospect, I should have just stayed there and fished it as most of the radio chatter was from that area all day. I did way too many sea miles for nothing...

Didn't know Shelter Island Launch was "closed until late 2018" until I arrived at 10:30pm last night after 4 1/2 hours from Ventura County........good times..... Ended up in MB with a plan to hit the 371 and 425 area in my little 18 footer, all by my lonesome. So I did just that, and like some...

    SE of 425 Wed 9-19

Nice! Heading out tomorrow and now I'm confused.......the entire fleet seemed to be around the 371 - 425 area, but then someone just posted they did well "NW of the Coronados"........who knows, it's a big ocean! Obviously would love to get them north of the border or maybe even the 302 area...

Good report.......thinkin of doin the same on Friday..... 1. Did you see any of our friends from the Mexican DFG checking boats by any chance? 2. The sporties in the same area did really well you think the lack of bait spoiled a better catch for you? 3. Was your best...

Nice haul! I have the same plan tomorrow (Friday). I'd like to target the 182, but it sounds like your action might have been a little southeast of that. I'm headed out of Mission tomorrow as well, so just trying to put a plan together. Did you ever make it to the 182 high spot or would you...

Wed July 13 Report....Miles and Miles of desert.

I did the same thing today, but skipped the 43, only the 182, and yes, it was lifeless. No radio chatter, no boils, and although I seemed to be fishing around the Aztec most of the morning, I never saw them pull a fish over the rail either. Tough day, but nice to be out there trying.......that...

Bonita at the upper 4 rigs off Santa Barbara

Decided to do an easy run today out of SB after striking out on the YFT off the islands lately..... Huge schools of Bonita and easy to land on the iron off of any of the rigs past the 4 mile....also saw a yellowtail landed. Heading back in, I saw the famous Capt. Dave Bacon on top of the 4...

    Tuesday Tuna near SBI

I hate to pry, and am willing to get flamed by the proverbial "find your own fish"......but I'm making the long run tomorrow out of Channel Islands.....and we have a bite up here outside of Santa Cruz Island and your report now confirms the SBI island fish. I'd rather run south there, as the...

    8/7 Dana....3rd Times a Charrm

After 2 fishless trips out of Dana in the past 6 weeks, it finally happened. 10 miles out, find the right paddy, and bingo, nice bull dodo and 3 YFT. Left them biting and handed it off to some guys who were close by. Considering these are trips that start in Ventura County, the long drive...

I really suck at fishing.......lots of fish caught today, and I had my chance. 20 minute fight with a beast and he spits the I'm done with circle hooks! My buddy got a 50 pounder, saw an 80 pounder at the dock at Dana, and witnessed the end of the 2 1/2 hour fight of what the...

First SUP Yellowtail of County Line

I bought this board specifically because of the flat wide deck that had eyelets built into it. I tied a loop of rope through the eyelets, and then use some rubberized heavy gage twisty's from Home Depot to secure the gaff and rod........not perfect, but it works.

First SUP Yellowtail of County Line

Definitely the fish.......I specifically bought a cheaper spinning reel as I couldn't bear the thought of a nice seeker with a Daiwa on it getting trashed in the surf on the way in:D

Tuna Fishing on a SeaDoo- Video

I bought the bait tank on Craigslist for $100 last week, which was a score, as it's a $300 22g. Kodiak. I mounted a transom bait pump (which took some engineering, as it's a funky transom) and then it just sits on the swim step and is strapped down. I had the wires going directly to the...
