It’s is my understanding that Shimano did not meet the necessary sales quota to justify the reels continued production so they discontinued it. I would hope that down the line they do consider releasing another dc reel for offshore applications.

Sale is already pending on that one.

I saw that reel but right off the bat I noticed the aftermarket handle and am not a fan.

Depending on how and what your fishing for, there are a few options. Accurate makes larger lefty reels as does Avet. Penn also makes some of the fathom 2speed reels in lefty as well.
