How would you recommend applying the gel oat and keeping it from falling off?

Why do you recommend vinylester over epoxy? Most all my glass experience is with epoxy, so i am most comfortable with it, but open to other options.

Hello, I’m looking for a Garmin MFT package with chart plotter, sonar, radar, and transducer (transom) for my 28’ Skipjack. Preferably screen no less that 9”. I need ease of use, and easy on the eyes. My eyesight isn’t getting any better as I age. Is this something you can help guide my purchase?

What method do you use for fiberglass screw hole repairs to hold a panel, bracket, or other fixture? I’ve resined up pieces of plywood and placed them as a backer, tried pieces of toothpicks. I’m just wondering it there is some better way?

Hopped LB on Friday, 10/4. First trip of the season for us. First trip in 2 years due to life stuff. Started dropping early, about 5, finally quit about 11:30. Caught 2 very legal, threw away about 6 shorts. Fun times, great weather, good to be back.

We're using 3/8" hollow poly braid. Very floaty, you have to have good line control.

My thought with the 3 prong was it would be easier to snag the rope. We use a standard West Marine collapsible boat hook now. And my crew occasionally miss, because the hook is pointed the wrong way. It's black nylon and hard to see at night which way it's pointed.

I did the conversion to my old Searay. Removed an OMC drive. Now I'm considering doing it again to my 28' Skippy. I bought the bracket from a fabricator in New Orleans I think. He sold them through eBay.

Was really good to be back on the water again. Launched from Daives around 6, got sardines, 1/2 scoop. Nacho was out of squid. Fished Bird Rock to Emerald Cove. Was wide open calico. Caught my personal best. Saw other boats catch a yellow here and there. I got too close to the Enterprise one...

Last year, watch the fog rolling in. Tried to beat it back to Davies, until a giant oil tanker disappeared in front of me. I throttle back, dropped anchor, and went to sleep. It was so thick I couln't see the bow. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

What was great was seeing them on Channel 7. They stood in front of the reported, with their name displayed on the bottom of the screen, answering questions. I would've thanked the rescuers and split in a hurry.

Yea, we heard you from the horseshoe, heard the one nice captain ask what kind of help you needed, and the jack asses also.

We were out there also, pretty sure we saw you. Couldn't get a yellow. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. We fished from about 6:30 to 4:30. Only bonito and bass. Our bait wait almost all dead in the short ride from Nachos to the green buoy. Seal lions were thick. Was a beautiful day out there.

After reading all the hot reports from Thurseday and Friday, things seemed to slow on Saturday and Sunday. We went to Dana Point on Monday, got one yellowfin at 7 am, then nada the rest of the day.

I have a wash down hose and we used it, but sparingly, as it's source is the fresh water tank.

I've done it. It's a lot of work, but I found it very rewarding. In my opinion, it makes the boat safer. It's not cheap, outboards are expensive.

Launched at Davies just before 6, headed for bait with high hopes of getting some yellow. Waited in line for half hour, bought a 1/2 scoop. Line for bait had to be 30 boats deep, when we were done. Got out to 150, almost all bait dead, or close to it. By 8:00 we counted 93 boats, by 9:00, too...

i need to run wires through the top of the deck and through the roof of the pilot house for my new lights. What's the best way to run them through? Obviously they must be watertight. I was thinking of the Shakespeare antenna cable outlet, but open to other suggestions.

DON'T use Teflon spray. Use wax. Rub a candle on it. If you use telflon spray or anything with silicone in it, you can forget about ever refinishing it.

I have a 28, similar. I like the drawers. Don't use the fridge. I'd like to convert an alcohol stove to propane, and have the tank where the fridge is, of course safely mounted. Did you toss your stove?

Shaft length? Does it include prop? Control?

Typical helm sizes are 1.7, 2.0, 2.4 GPM. The larger the helm, the less turn lock to lock, but more effort is required.

The helm unit is a pump, powered by you. They also make power assist pump that are electrically driven and mount between the helm and the cylinder.

Was it sized correctly? There are different GPM helm pumps for different applications. Is the cylinder the correct size? Lots of variables. In my experience, you probably won't be able to steer with one finger, unless you have power assist, but it shouldn't be stiffer than cable steering.

Sounds like us, we go about five times a year. In August we take the inlaws and youngest son, 5 people on a 28' boat, for one week. We love every minute, and I can't wait till August. Sure it's packed, but we all work together and make it work.

I have 2 bilge pumps, I installed both, one next to the other. No drain in the cabin floor. I don't know if there is enough room between the floor and the hull to install one. Never seen one on any 28's.
