    Tribute 1.5 day Tanner Yellowtail (March27-29) Blame it on the BAIT WRAPS!

    I was fishing a JX 6/3. When the captain said he was metering them on the bottom, I'd drop all the way to the bottom, and reel pretty fast. We were drifting fast, so I generally dropped to the bottom, up 15-20 winds, drop again. But only one or two drops, because you get scoped out too...

    You really need to try out these jigs... They are killer in a pick bite! This one is responsible for hooking a lot of yellowtail, a few bonito, and even some rock fish, and it's held up like this.... Rich uses high end hooks on these and they do not get bent up as easily as the hooks you get...

    That jig I posted the picture of has at least 30 yellowtail, plus a few bonito, and it still looks like that! If you don't snag it on the bottom and loose it, that finish will hold for a LONG time. Believe me, I pay attention to when I think I'm close to the bottom so I don't get hung up...

    I just got the fish counts for the trip.... We ended up with 153 mixed fish... 12 bluefin, 95 yellowfin, 20 dorado, 20 yellowtail and 6 albacore for 20 anglers. Not bad considering at the end of day one we had about 10 fish, and the next morning most of our bait was gone.
