    Consistently Catching Bluefin Tuna!

Ill be first to admit that it hasn't been easy but given the right preparation and taking advantage of our opportunities, solid chances can be had. Over the last couple of trips, yesterday being the most recent, there hasn't been any pattern to these fish. We did have some "foamer" style of...

    Rod inserts

On new parkers, the two rod holders on each corner of the stern are "rod holder/cup holder" combos. The top plate in which you see looking down is stainless, but the actual rod/cup holder is plastic. I believe they will be changing those to stainless ones for newest models

    Bait Tank Mods

If you’re a serious fisherman, replace the tank with a blue water or pacific edge. Doesn’t matter what you do to this tank; it’s useless for west coast. Don’t cut it out if you don’t want to....just add a tank to the deck. Nothing you do will significantly improved this tank. Just being honest.

The Build Begins... New Model 2018 Parker 2320 (new transom)

Im not sure how I feel about that. My guess is water flows to least resistance, so you would need to choke the drain pretty good to force the water to go up into the other tank. Im not sure if that would create more back pressure for exit water and thus affecting the main tank? I dont know ...

    Ideal Bait Tank on 2320

im not 100% sure yet. I liked where I Had it because people could sit in bean bags comfortable between tank and door. I didn't have any issues of not having enough room in the stern area. And in its location, it wasn't too far forward to feel the boat slap in rough weather. so im not 100% sure yet

Ill be sticking with Marks PE-60.....its modified a few inches taller so probably still right around 65- or a hair more. But then again, the new Parker on order also has the extra 23 gallon stern tank too. If I didn't have stern tank, then id probably go bigger.

Why is 65# braid the go to?

the 65 fills most reels around 275 to 35o yards. If you choose 50lb, youre putting over 400 yards which is wayy to much and many spools come in 300 yards only. If youre putting 40lb spectra, youre looking at over 500yards which is too much. Put 80lb and you'll fill about 200 yards or less...

Why do you choose to go out?

I dont fish charter boats much but when I do, I fish captains first, not the boat. Meaning, I would prefer the main captain or a certain captain be running the boat that Im on. Cant emphasize how important that is. Second would be counts. I work so I dont get the luxury of fishing all the...

Ive studied this pretty decently when buying my parker. I want to say that the fix is 2-3k if not more. Its a MAJOR problem. Also, new 225 is approx $23k. I would step away or ask seller to have proof from shop that corrosion issue has been taken care of .

    Hatches

I just checked mine on my 07 2320. seems like there is a small hole that leads it back to the bilge but if its clogged, then I'm sure it will hold water. Also, if your boat is on a trailer and relatively flat, the water will not drain… If its on a high enough angle, all the water will run to...

I have a 07 2320 with a 150 gallon fuel tank…. I have never ran it all the way dry but i am curious out of the 150 gallons, how much is usable? 135 gallons? 140 gallons? Is there an "x" amount where the pump can not suck? or is all 150 gallons usable?

    Can't decide which reel

Absolutely no problem landing the bigger fish……I'm just able to land them faster with a two speed on the 100 and up. lol
  299. Fishingguy

    Can't decide which reel

I planned on using my for jigging but 100 lb bluefin out matched the reel. You can still catch them on it, but not optimized. I believe the 40n is great for a yo yo for fish up to 60-70 lbs. Love the cast ability and smooth drag.
  300. Fishingguy

    Can't decide which reel

I was able to fit 330 yards of 80lb. I have filled my 40n twice. both are around 330 so not sure how one can fit almost double this. (and I'm very attentive and detailed with all my line fillings on all my reels)
  301. Fishingguy

    Can't decide which reel

Hmm max cuatro? I can only fit about 330 of 80lb regular power pro on my 40n. No where near 600 yards
  302. Fishingguy

    Which Talica 2 speed?

Im with Jonathan here. I use talica 12 with 65lb spectra filled to brim with 60lb leader; however, if you are on a sporty, you may want more line capacity with a talc 16, 80lb spectra. I use a 66xh terez…because I'm short. lol
  303. Fishingguy

    Trance spooling

Personally, i prefer just the regular power pro. 65lb. It fits 300yards perfect. And the tranx really cast spectra with short fluoro well. Just my 2 cents

I pulled this off my boat as it came with it. Everything was working on sea trial. I didn't even use it once when boat was delivered. I took it all off and added new electronics. Ebay goes for around 3-400. Selling everything you see with all wires, Hubs, antennas and transducer for just $80...

  366. Fishingguy

And it keeps getting better.....big yellowfin and more bluefin

I didnt really keep track of it…but if i had to guess…i may have skunked 5-6 times this year and have had 20 fish catching trips. Right around there. Usually 1 skunk per 4 trips, but recently I've been on a roll with fish caught on last 6-7 trips.
  367. Fishingguy

And it keeps getting better.....big yellowfin and more bluefin

Great question! Im doing both. I have a really big bait tank for my size boat….so I'm always chumming 1-2 pieces every few minutes, if not more. With our dead bait or beat up bait, i cut up some as chunk…..but just seen a little more action with the live chum.
  368. Fishingguy

And it keeps getting better.....big yellowfin and more bluefin

And it keeps getting better.....big yellowfin and more bluefin

Yes, all on fly line sardines. One on Mac. And about 7-8 hours of trolling the yummy for nada. Have a half ass effort on flat fall but fish were boiling and reacting to bait. But I also didn't make it before gray in which I would have concentrated on flat fall.

This is older unit so yes, its only a 1kw transducer and not a chirp!
  381. Fishingguy

    Bluefin tuna and big spearfish???

bluefin have been such a challenge. I probably lost more than i have landed. Fidning them is one thing. Getting them to bite is another. Fighting them is another. Gaffing/landing is another. So many pieces of the puzzle have to line up to do so!
  382. Fishingguy

I actually never accounted for that…. lol Interesting enough, come to think of it…i only run wide open throttle back home when i have fish on board. yes, i have skunked, but i just slowly roll in. Ill make note of that.
  399. Fishingguy

Parker 2320 w/ Yamaha 225 hp ….change prop? better performance?

Running wide open throttle achieving that speed is usually 3 guys myself included (I'm 140pounds… most others average 180-200ish), 80 pounds of ice, empty bait tank, 20 rods, usually 70 gallons in gas tank…. When fully loaded, full 150 gallon tank at wide open throttle, i go maybe 32/33 mph...
