Figures, right after I pick up a Honey 7x a blue one is up for sale.
Surprised it's not already sold.
Awesome!! I'm with Twining. Maybe I'll see you at a meeting sometime.
Whats the gear ratio?
RMA? Local 12 brother?
Do you know if the drags have been upgraded to Carbontex?
Do you have the clamp for the Sealine?
Nice I'm jumping on the 8/11 trip on Coroloma. Hopefully see you on 9/7 on New Huster for Final.
Any BDers getting in on this tournament out hooks landing? First prize is $2,000.
Platero Customs in Long Beach.
Wow killer deal.
Awesome rod, you have some really rare rods in your collection.
Damn it! I missed this one!
Think I am gonna use Saltiga parts. My Accurates are blue/black so only for cosmetic reasons.
Love mine, very comfortable and light for 100#.
Saw this on their website but can't find it at a tackle shop.
Truth brother! The thought of having a 25#, 30# blue glass composite 80 and an 80H for 40# is sounding really good.
Almost want to buy this so I have one for 25# and one for 30#.
This will sell fast.
Those Daiwa reels are awesome for throwing irons!!
Is this a 4.9 to 1 gear?
Do these only come in Red/Silver?
Can't wait to see pictures of it.
Had a great time throwing blue/chrome at Skippies and Yellowfin last season.
I'd say so.
Wish I had something to trade for it.
This 7x and your Proto 100 are awesome. This one should sell fast. Awesome workmanship for a great price!
Plus the gear ratio on that reel give so much power.
Damn!! Awesome combo right there.
There is on for sale on the board hit up reeljunky.
Right on! Good luck in your search.
Are the Accurate reels all silver models?
There are some blue composite Seeker blanks available on the site....
Heard that BV-300 clamp would fit.
Bump for a good seller!!
Awesome thank you!!! Great news!!
Is there a chance this clamp could work on Boss Magnum 197 2speed or Boss Magnum 870N 2 speed?
Congrats on finding a Super 12!!
Do you have anything for Accurate Boss Magnum 2speed reels? 870n, 197.
Glad you got your jigs back!
Super cool person for returning them to landing!!
On the Acid Rod blank catalog it says its 30-50. On an older Seeker blank catalog is says 40-60. Moon knows his blanks not likely he wrote wrong...
Bump for some bad ass blanks.
Great price for those blanks. If I didn't have a set already they'd be gone. GLWS. Good seller, his gear is as advertised!
Beautiful rod. GLWS.
Another bump for a good seller!
Bump for 3 awesome reels.
Bump for good seller.

Bump for an awesome Seeker rod.
Anyone know the dimensions of the large bag.
@jigeater98 My Apologies for stepping on your thread.
Looking forward to an ass kicking like that. Just picked up a 540 last weekend.
Is it possible to have too many?
Thanks gonna give this a try! Seen the guy from AA worms use something like this in a video.
My quiver of jigsticks.
Calstar BTG 90J
Seeker Ulua 100H
Seeker WTS 100F
Depending on the size of the leadheads. We were talking about using a 3oz shad head with their largest swimbait.
I spoke with the guys from Madame Lure at FHS they said they use a hot nail to hollow out the swimbaits.
Turn it into a Super 12. You can comfortably fish it all day. Solid 100# reel.
Have you guys tried hollowing out the swimbaits prior to leadhead?
What do you swimbait guys do to your swimbaits to stop them from splitting when using bigger leadheads?
What are the gear ratios?
Congrats to you and your daughter!!
Ya I know a guy. Check the DM I sent you. If he can't do for you. I can take my set to a buddy of mine so he can build off them.
Good luck in your search. Those reels are hard to come by.
Are you talking about the Special 77 models that Mike from Bob' Sporting Goods use to make?
Good man to deal with. Gear always as advertised.
Thanks Moon! I will pass this on to some friends, I was able to pick up a white glass Seeker yesterday.
Thanks for info. I've got 2 BG35s and 2 BG40s I want to swap gears.
Thanks brother! Was gonna give them a call to see if they had any.
Are Seeker or Calstar 540 blanks still readily available?
Man the 4.9 to 1 ratio reels sell fast.
Congrats on sale.
I picked this up from someone who bought it at the Seeker parking lot sale this year. It's black glass. From what I was told there were a few...
Great reels for throwing irons.
4.9 to 1?
Nice looking set.
Those Uluas keep tempting me:drool:
Thanks for info.
That 30T should sell in a heartbeat.
Black glass CJBF80H?
Has anyone done this upgrade to the BG 40?
Basically the XLH is one step above the XL as far as line/drag. My opinion the XLH is perfect for 20-25# and the XL for 15-20#. Main thing is your...
Bump for good seller, gear as advertised!!
See you Saturday.
What do you use to keep your fillet knives ready to go?
I'll take them.
I'll bet, I'm always excited to throw irons with a new jigstick, but a CEX? That's something else.
Very nice build!
Wish I was closer. GLWS!
I'm San Gabriel any discount if I pick up?

Tady 45 or Salas 7x in mint or mint/white.
Flat fall to try for BFT.
Awesome rod. Good luck with your search!
Upgrade to Carbontex drags and they are winches to drag fish to the boat.
Looks like a 3rd Gen. I definitely don't consider myself an expert on White Tiger blanks though.
Bump for awesome reels to throw irons.
Great deal from a great seller to do business with.
Got you brother. I'll keep my eyes out for one. Those rods are heavy hitters.
Good luck with your search. Have you asked Sergio if he can get that blank from Calstar?
You are correct. My bad I definitely flew off the handle, my apologies to Woodeneye.
That 6460 is beautiful!!
Looks like a 3rd gen from what I see.
My bad thought your response was directed at me.
:finger: what the fuck is it to you? I've done business with this seller and seen his gear.
Good seller, gear as advertised.
Sergio Platero from Platero Customs. He will build you what you want.
Nice score brother!
Yes it is the person you are thinking of.
Exactly! got to admit I almost shelled out for one.
I know that one of Moon's associates has a few blue Ulua blanks.

The big one is 8" got them from a guy on Facebook. He does custom colors also.[ATTACH]
I've got the same gen F100.
How do you identify the different generations?
I like all their styles, grub, creature, big Richard and the paddle tail. The regular swimbait is what you want for calicos. They have a...
I'm new to Seekers so I'm not sure about the whole generation thing. I pulled on it and liked it, like the look of White Tiger rods.
Nice looking rods, good luck in your search. I recently found a F100 blank on the site.
Great deal on those hooks.
Can't believe this hasn't sold.
Bob's Sporting Goods rods are bad ass, wish they were still around to wrap rods.
Buy with confidence, gear will be as advertised.
I have been told they will replace the reel. Be interested to hear your experience.
I was at Savon Tackle over the weekend and was told that Daiwa took all the stock off their shelves and replaced it with new reels. Sounds like...
Very nice!! Wish I had cash on hand.
Thought I recognized it.LOL
What rod is next to 900H?
I never win jackpot so I've never faced this issue. I would give it to the crew if I ever do win.
GLWS. I'm no expert on CEX Uluas but I do know they are rare.
Congrats on sale, was thinking it would work good for slow pitch jigs.
If sale doesn't go through please let me know.
Thanks man, it does sound very much like my 197 as far as capabilities, GLWS.
It's a good looking reel, looks like it would be fun to use on a 15# to 20# outfit. Are you in the 626?
How does the 300 compared to an old school Boss 197. Any Idea?
Where are you in Pasadena?
Lots of Madame Lures, It's a katch hook keepers and Haggard Pirate shirts.
I've caught rockfish on the yellow/orange heavy hitters.
Somebody scored a great deal on this reel.
If this is still available I'll take it.
Nice looking Ulua.
Very nice looking rods. Love the murdered out 100.
Yellowtail and Tuna (Yellowfin or Bluefin)
I've heard of this with the new Saltist line. Someone bought a Daiwa reel clamp from me last year because of a stripped out stud.
If you want the most fun I'd say heavy jigs/jighead+swimbait. If you just want fish for freezer dropper loop and squid strips.
I just asked what everyone wanted to know. I probably should have asked earlier so you wouldn't have been bothered by the same question so much....
You must have been asked by text or PM because I'm the only one that asked on the thread.
Good! He has a collection of Uluas and is always on the lookout for limited editions.
I guess I should have asked what generation the rods are, instead of asking if it was a first generation. Either way I would have pissed you off...
Shot in the dark, it's not stated what generation they are.
Are these 1st generation?
If I didn't have a Ulua being wrapped already I'd definitely be on one of these.
Are the Uluas 10 footers or 9' 3"?
Beautiful rods! Props to your friend!!
I'm interested, let me know.
What's the line rating? Sorry for dumb question, I'm usually a Calstar guy so not familiar with seeker blanks.
Would be best for surface irons.
It was good at San Miguel. Didn't fish deeper than 280 feet.
Great prices!! GLWS.
My 2 cents. We all fish a bit different in style, that will affect the the combination of rod/reel/line that is ideal for us. If 40# works for you...
I use the 6.1 Ratio and have no issues. Never tried the 4.9.
I'd recommend staying at 30# the BTG 90J fishes 40# with no issues.
30# good for cuda, bonito, small YT, small YFT.
This is my first Ulua so not used to dealing with the fat butt section.
Thanks, just worried about fitting on the Ulua more than the reel.
It's almost exact match to a 7400XH, and 765XXH I have.
Does the Calstar have the Aftco reel seat?
What size Tiburon Universal clamp do you use?
Planning on pairing the rod with a Daiwa BG40.
Wish you were closer that 50 would work on my Ulua.
Never rode the Condor, but I can give the Top Gun 80 good marks across the board.
Nice jigstick! Wish I was closer.
Was good meeting you. Good luck with sale of the other rods
Good seller, gear is as advertised, buy with confidence.
That's very true, very easy to upgrade also.

Nice looking rod, did you wrap it yourself?
Wish you were closer. Willing to ship?
Sounds like someone scored matching blue glass 6480s.:appl:

Where are you in L.A.? Do you still have the sealine?
Good looking reels/clamps. GLWS.
Did accurate do the custom pitbull clamp? I've got a few black reels with standard pitbulls. Black looks much better.
2.5 day with charter group in August. Definitely a few more if work allows.
Do you have the original clamp and hardware also.
Calstar GF765L will do it, but personally I like it for 50#.
The 113H and 114H are sick looking.
Interested in the custom 4/0. What upgrades did you do as far as drags?
George Vannemans Quality Wieghts
Cribbs jigs or heavy leadhead and swimbait.
I believe so. They were on the hooks when I bought the jigs from George.
[ATTACH] Cribbs jig in glow.
My personal favorite is an Accurate 665.
Daiwa makes a jig and 3600 tray tote that just came out.
Love that "murdered out" 100j.
I love my BTG 90J, I think you will like your BTG 690J.
I'm thinking the 690J would make a fun light jig, megabait, and swimbait stick.
Very nice! I'm thinking of having one built for my Xmas present to myself.

I completely agree! Just looking at the set up made me wonder if losing a jig was common.
That bridaled jig set up looks interesting, have you ever lost the jig using it?
Anybody know if they have live squid at CISCO bait barge?
I go with either the Albright or the FG. Don't really like the Albright for under 40#.

Those 6oz sumos and megabaits are tempting me.
Nice looking reel, how does it feel compared to a BG 35 Saltist?
I was on the waiting list for this one, looks like I missed out on a fun day.:drunk
Great report and video!
If I didn't have a GF765XXH for flatfall I'd be all over this.
I let my buddy know about it, he needs a good Bluefin stick.
Nice stick! I bought the 3x from the same BDr.
Good luck! They are not easy to find.
Good seller buy with confidence.
Interested in the TLCs and the 6oz sumos.

Best of luck in your fight.

I've heard great things about the Monster and the Del Mar. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those....
I have a BTG(GG blank)90J paired with a Daiwa BG 35. It throws 45s and 7Xs with no issues.
I think I've got one somewhere in my tackle box.
Congrats! Looks like it was a great trip.
Chuck= copper rockfish
Cab Driver= Cabazon
Congrats on your epic catch:cheers:!!

Cheers congrats on the sale.
Bump for John. Good Seller, gear will be as advertised. Buy with confidence.
I hear ya! Last year I definitely put in too much overtime. Luckily the project slowed down a bit this year.
Ha ha! My Calstars would definitely be jealous if I brought home a Seeker. I'm surprised it has lasted, great price for the combo.
That was my thinking, just wasn't the right time because of the price. Might hit him up after some overtime on the job.
That Ulua looks cool, just don't know if I need another 10 footer.
No not so much on the green ATD but I have seen a blue camo BX2 400 that was tempting me bad.

Awesome! Hate to see you get rid of a Bad Ass rod over transport issue. Especially a blacked out jigstick.
Have you seen "Carry me 123" it's an easy way to transport long rods.
Yes Thunderbird overnight.
I paid $169 for a Saturday night departure.
Calstar 870 or 270 8H are good 25# rods. I'm Calstar dude so don't know enough to have opinions on other brands.

Cool. Love fishing with Shawn and his crew. Don't see many reports about the Aloha Spirit.
What is the line rating for the white tiger?
Saltiga 35, or 40. I'm a Calstar guy so I know nothing about UC but I've only heard good things.
I knew it would go quick, smoking deal on that rod!
Keep them all. Whichever one you sell you will wish you kept it.

Go to the classifieds Joker63 is selling 2 seekers that are super clean and a great deal. Sold.
Great deal also.
That blackout edition is sweet! Bump for good seller.
Calstar 690J/90J. I like the GG series.
Daiwa BG35 or older Saltist 30T are great reels for throwing irons.
You must be of the crowd that doesn't like Bob or Scotty's style.
Some anglers like star drags and some prefer lever drags. Sometimes the best reel is the one that the angler is most comfortable using.
Star drag = Daiwa SL20.
Lever drag = Accurate 197 or 270
Cribbs jigs or Jax jigs. I also have some 250 gr knife jigs that work great for rockfish.
I believe the pit bull clamp is for accurate reels only.
Fits all standard width Boss Magnum models: 270, 870, 665 plus 665N. Also 4:1 single speed narrows: 197, 870N and 665NN.
Doh! My bad. I knew it was 7/"something". Thanks Al!
Sweet reel and great seller. Normally I would say good luck with sale but I'm sure this would already be sold. Good luck finding your trade Ray!
Definitely keep an eye out in the classifieds 95% of my rods and reels were bought from there. Figure out what you like, and then keep an eye out...
I did a 1.5 day on TG80 a few years ago, they may have decided to focus on longer trips. Also you might look into Ranger 85. I've done some 2.5...
Top Gun 80 would feel something like the Shogun as far as staterooms and food. Really hard working Captain and crew also.
For the bigger fish you would definitely want to fish 80# minimum. As long as your rod and reel set up will handle that you should be fine. The...
Top Gun 80. Staterooms, good food, and good crew. Scotty and Bob will definitely educate you on offshore fishing.
Better to have it and not need it.
Bluefin are showing up in the counts. Some 100+ pounders out there. Jeff is a good seller to deal with and this is a quality reel.
Great Deal! Those orange with copper backs have always worked well for me.
Killer deal! I wouldn't be surprised if they sell within the hour. Scott is a good seller and takes great care of his gear.
I use a BX2-500 for 40#. Also use a Daiwa BG-35 for 40# throwing iron.
Awesome yoyo rod. GLWS!!
I use a GF7400XH with a BX2-30n. Sometimes I use 80 leader with that set up for more abrasion resistance. I also have a GF765L with a BX2-600n...
Bump for Scott. The Bluefin have started to show their face. Check out the GF7400h and Talica 12.
Doradochaser has an ATD-12 for sale. He is a good seller. It will be as advertised.
Look into the Top Gun 80 they have trips from 1.5 to 5 day normally. The boat has staterooms, and the food is great. I'm not sure if they have a...
No just for looks really. Wanted the caps in case I ever decide to sell the reels.
Try contacting Al through the Accurate Reel Support Forum on the site. He is usually able to come up with the hard to find parts for accurate...
Bring something to fish 25-30 pound line. Be prepared to rockfish. Also bring leadheads for squid if they try for WSB. Maybe a light line outfit...
Good point. I always forget to point that out. I was in the Navy so I never think sleeping in a bunk on a boat is a big deal, when in reality it...
From my experience on a 1.5 day you will fish from sun up to sun down in overnight range. Then have a good dinner, shower, and sleep as the boat...
But understand sometimes you don't have the opportunity for 1.5 days.
You will just enjoy waking up and being in the area you are going to fish. Also having a bunk to catch a good nap during the ride back.
I received the rubber caps on Wed. Thanks so much Al!!
I totally agree!
Usually the Independence and the Intrepid are there.
Last year I tried Pizza Nova. Enjoyed some seafood pasta.
Just to get out of the house. Have lunch at Mitch's.
Great seller with a quality reel. Buy with confidence!
Jeff's gear will be as advertised.
Daiwa BG-35 is my go to jig reel.
Thanks for your help Al! Much appreciated!!
Have you contacted Skipjackrobert on the site? He is looking for one. He is a straight up guy to deal with.
No I haven't. I will PM my phone # again.
My opinion is you would get more fishing time on the Pacific Islander. Channel Islands has good quality rockfishing closer to the harbor. Eldorado...
Contact Jarrr he's got one.
Contact SkipjackRobert he's looking for one.
I use accurate reels for everthing but my jigsticks.
I have a Boss Magnum 197 that I use for 20-25#.
A Boss Magnum 270 2 speed that I use for...
Cool gonna bring a squid snagger in case.
Heading out to St. Nic. on the Eldorado Friday night wondering what to expect as far as bait.
I just wish Berth 55 would have honored the rain check since I booked the trip through them.
The boat is at Virg's Landing. Kinda sucks because I have a raincheck that I have to drive to Morro Bay now to cash in.
Thanks, last time I called to order there weren't any in stock and they did not know when they would have them again.
Adam is a great guy to deal with, gear is as advertised.
Thanks for meeting me Sunday morning. Love the Boss 270 2 speed.
Anyone got any rubber caps for sale?
I'll take the Boss 270 can we meet up Sunday some time.
I bet, I have an 870 and a 197 in black/blue but they are not 2 speed.
Thanks. I'm definitely interested.
What pound braid is on the Boss 270 2 speed?
Got a silver one but it's missing the rubber cap.
Awesome. My buddy is bringing his grandson and his grandson's first question was about the food. Personally I have always enjoyed party boat...
Been about 5 years since I rode the Eldorado. Wondering what to expect out of the galley.
The last 2 trips I did on the Aloha Spirit we got most of the fish on double dropper loops and squid strips. The overnighters might be different.
Thanks for all the input brothers! I should have mentioned it's a party boat (Eldorado). I have some trendsetter baits I want to try out....
BTG 6480 can throw the irons you are talking about. It's probably more of a 40# set up.
Heading out to St. Nic. Easter weekend I have done lots of rockfishing but never fished St. Nic. Is there anything special as far as techniques...
Top Gun 80 and the Ranger 85 are both good boats. Top Gun has stateroom berthing so you share a room with 2 people not 20.
Was just about to give you Scott's link. Striper 05, I have bought 2 rods from him. His gear is as advertised and he is a great guy to do business...
Anybody build one lately? Thinking of having one done to throw bigger/heavier jigs.
Nice looking rods GLWS!!
Can't believe those Calstar rods are still available.
See if you can find a boss magnum 665 2 speed on the site. It is a great dropper loop and yoyo reel. A BX2-500 or BX2-600 would also work great in...
Bump for Scott.
Great rod for 20/25#. GLWS.
Wow! I didn't think a gear change was that much. I had no idea how good of a deal I was getting when I bought mine. Good luck in your search.
I'm sure as soon as the fish counts show some BFT or better YT numbers you will get more attention. This would be a fun set up for the three Bs also!
Can't believe this hasn't sold yet.
Have you looked into the cost to have your ATD 12 upgraded to a Super 12?
Good luck Jeff!
Awesome news about the Bluefin! Congrats on getting some yellowtail!!
If it is 8' 6" it's probably a GFDH850m, in my opinion you would fish 40 pound line max more of a 30 pound set up.
Sent my buddy the link for these Calstars, he was admiring the two I got from you last year. GLWS!!
I like Calstar BTG 870 as a 7' rod for 25/30 pound line.
The BTG 270 8 H is a great 8' rod for 25/30 pound.
I think I have a silver one but I don't have a rubber plug for it.
Good seller, buy with confidence Scott's gear is as advertised!!
Ha ha I bought the 3x from that set. Good luck with sale. Well built rod.
Contact Lori on this site.
I know a few people that might jump on as the trip gets closer. They aren't prepared to commit at this time.
I always try to get pointers from the deckhands and Captain.
You can get some really good quality tackle from the classified ads on the website.
Mike did you get Nate's deposit? He said he screwed up and sent $270 and then sent you $100 after he realized his mistake.
The rubber bands are for attaching sinkers to your line aka rubber band rig. It's usually used when the tuna are hanging out in deeper water.
You have all you need for the trip. For the most part you will be fishing in 1.5 day range for a longer time. If I were to guess you would...
That's for sure! MikeeDaGuy charters are great I'll be on the Aug trip!
With the attitude you have I think you would enjoy a trip on the Top Gun 80. Some people don't enjoy the way they give direction but sounds like...
It's a good boat with hard working crew. Staterooms are comfortable. Food was good and big portions. The skippers will expect you to follow their...
His gear is well maintained buy with confidence.
Calstar GG 6480 put either 50# or 65# braid on the reel and top shot 30 or 40# mono.
Bump for good seller
I use a Calstar GF7400xh with an accurate BX2-30n probably a better 80# than 100# set up.
Nice looking rod GLWS!
If you get on Mikee's charter on the Ranger 85 in Aug. I will have plenty of gear with me I will hook you up.
I like tady 45 in dorado and the Salas 7x in green or mint sardine for surface yellows. Salas 6xjr in blue mack, Tady 4/0 in chrome/blue for yoyo...
Linguini with clams and white sauce on the Shogun.
Also BFT collar on the Shogun.
Surface iron : Calstar BTG 90j and 100j mag
Yoyo: Calstar GF765L
Bait: Bob's Sporting Goods Special 77 and 77h (Calstar BTG 6480 cut to 7' 7" set...
Bump for Pete. Good seller, gear is as advertised, buy with confidence!!
Calstar BTG 6480
Bump for Scott. Good seller, buy with confidence, gear as advertised.
I think the accurate buyers are purchasing the new line of Valiant reels. There are buyers out there for older model accurate reels. Just has to...
Thats what I was told. ATD -12 with ATD-30 gearing. I'm planning on pairing it with a GF765XXH. Thanks for input.
Awesome YO-YO reel GLWS!!
BTG 90J for Iron.
BTG 6480 for bait.
I just picked up an ATD Super 12 anyone have any experience with one?
BTG 90J is my favorite jigstick, although I like my 100j mag also.
Can't believe it isn't sold yet.
They are my prized possessions as far as reels go.
Most my other accurate reels are black.
I have 2 Blue Camo accurate reels wish I could add that 400 to the collection.
Nice reel GLWS
Is it silver or custom color?
Wow didn't know the custom colors were worth so much.
Thanks Al, would this also upgrade reel and give me cast control?
Thanks! Now I understand. I have the GF with black E-glass tip section. I was told it is very similar to a BTG by Island Tackle. Really appreciate...
What blank did you use on the rod you wrapped for Rock Cod Rick?
So what is available in 100j mag?
Ha ha I remember when I thought like that.
It's a Boss not a Boss Magnum are you sure you can replace the frame?
No worries! I have more set ups that are for heavier lines hit me up when you start going into 50# class and up.
What types of 100j mag blanks are available? I'm a big fan of the GG/BTG series and wonder if they have 100j mag in that series.
Trader Joe's jalapeno tarter sauce.
This is how I have paired my reels.
197 with Calstar BTG 870 this is my 20/25# bait set up.
270 with Calstar BT 270 8H my 25/30# bait set up.
If you are going to fish 20# I'd go with the Sealine. It's a great 20# flyliner. Perfect for 800l. The BG 30 is a great 30# flyliner and will be...
I have a BTG 270-8H I use as my 25/30# out fit paired with an accurate Boss Magnum 870 (65# braid backing short Flouro topshot) I like the BG 35...
A Calstar GG 6480 with a Daiwa BG 40 combo should work for you. Also look into a GF 700 or 800m. I really can't give advice on other brands...
I like to use Trader Joe's soy ginger sesame dressing as dipping sauce for hamachi. It's a good glaze if you like to sear your yellowtail.
I wouldn't mind blue camo as an option either!
Hope they will be produced in black!!
It is a Boss 270 no cast control. I looked at the broken screws that are still in the frame, it appears to be a corrosion issue on why they broke....
Thank you. I have contacted a local machine shop in my area that said they could drill out the screws and install threaded inserts as a repair.
They broke in 2 pieces. Half of each screw is still in the reel frame.
Thanks for input. That's the route I was thinking of going.
I'm trying to see if it's worth salvaging. I mainly use it for rockfishing and as a backup 20# reel.
I have an older Boss 270 that I use an aftermarket reel clamp on. Recently the screws that hold the reel seat to reel body failed. Do you guy...
Shogun? Nice catch!!
Try cheerfully morbid custom wrapps. Her name is Lori, I believe she works on the Liberty. PM her she is on BD as Lori, she wraps plier sets also.
Daiwa Saltist 30/35/40
First fish caught= chucklehead
Favorite fish to catch= yellowtail
Favorite fish to eat = yellowtail/yellowfin
Favorite shellfish= scallops
Nice looking rod. GLWS
What pound is the braid on the Accurate 50W?
Love that black 50W.
I think you will really like the 600N for yo-yo. It has plenty of drag and torque. I used my BX2-600N for yo-yo for a while, it never let me down.
The top gun 80, or the shogun.
Thanks for all the input. Went out yesterday and got 20 fish daily bag limits. They were mostly caught on double dropper loop and squid strips....
Thanks for input. Sounds like nothing has changed. I usually put a Orange/copper back jax jig on bottom and a swim bait on top as a teaser.
I have a BG35 on my 90J and 100J Mag. They are great for throwing irons.
Going on a full day trip this weekend. What's been catching the rockfish and lings.
Bump for Jeff.
That's my thinking also I would rather fish down a line class than overload my set up and have a failure. Thanks for all your advice Steve.
Steve has a good point. You will not spend a lot of time traveling, and the big Bluefin were not that far away this year.
Thanks for input Steve. I picked up the rod at a great price from another BDer about a month ago. I've only done up to 3.5 day trips so far but...
You will fish in the 1.5 day range for longer time.
I think you are fine with that reel, you will figure out what retrieve speed works for you.
It's a xxxh 80# to unlimited. I already have the rod, looking into a reel to pair with it.
Man I wish you were closer to me.
Calstar 765xxh would handle that.
I knew my BD bros would know first hand about this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge guys!
Thanks I use accurate pit bull clamps on my accurate/deckhand combos but didn't know which direction to go with my jigstick/daiwa combos. My BG35...
I have heard of people cracking their blank by tightening stock reel clamps to much. Definitely don't want to go there.
Thanks for your input Skrilla! Much appreciated.
Get a feeling it was Baller who showed him the way. Ha ha
Muymacho74 I really appreciate the advice!
Thanks I'm gonna look into the 50T.
Thank you. I should probably add that I have a Calstar 7400 XH that I pair with a BX-2-30n for 80#-100#.
Calstar GF765 XXH that I'm planning to...
I can't put my BG-35 on my 100j mag because reel clamp studs aren't long enough. Is there any benefit to the cork puppy over just buying longer studs?
Planning on targeting large yellowfin on trips to Alijos or Guadalupe. Planning on using 200# test braid backing and 130# flouro top shot or heavier.
This rod will be used for bait with flouro top shot. Thanks for any input.
I can vouch for the guys at Island Tackle. Have not shopped at the new Baja Fish Tackle store yet.
I have seen the puffin color kill quite a few lings off Santa Cruz Island.
I bet they would bite the flat fall jigs. I have caught them on power jigs(a lucanus lookalike), and sea rock jigs.
If you are talking bait a squid live or dead kills them.
Calico hunter swimbait on a 3oz lead head if they aren't to deep. Glow grub on heavy lead head if they are deep. Orange with copper back Jax jigs.
I have always wanted to fish on the new lo ann. Seems like they are the top 1.5 day boat as far as BFT.
Good seller buy with confidence guys.
My Bob's Sporting Goods Special 77 with BX2-500.
The Special 77 is a BTG-6480 cut to 7'7".
I use a Calstar GF765L with an accurate 665H. Also doubles as my trolling rod.
I use this when fishing a chovy. Less wieght for the chovy than a ringed hook.
Sardines I prefer ringed hook.
A Daiwa BG Saltist 40 is a good reel for the type of fishing you describe.
Only used big hammers and MC swimbaits on 2.5 day trips but they worked on the slide and cast and retrieve.
I think the 800m would be best for 30# it will throw the jigs you stated, but not really a jigstick.
I have a Bob's Sporting Goods special 7'7" built off a BTG 6480. It's my favorite bait rod with an accurate BX2-500.
BTG 90J and Saltist BG 35
Thanks for input I was leaning toward the 30.
Not going to be used on the kite. Planning on using set up for bait fishing with short flourocarbon top shot.
I can see why. They definitely get the job done. Thanks for input.
A friend recommend Talica 25 II for this set up.
What do you recommend? Its going on a calstar 765xxh.
Would like input from owners of Makaira reels, thinking about picking one up to pair with a 775xxxh.
Island Tackle has new Calcutta jig bags.
Let me know when you are available to meet up.
That's close to me. No problem.
Sent pm for xxxh.
Bad ass rods! Love all black, built to do business not just for show.
Sweet reel wish I had the $$.
Shawn's boat is the shit! Love fishing on the Aloha!
On the Aloha Spirit
I use a 9' for swimbait on heavy leadheads. Fun way to go after lings.
I have heard that the Ulua can 50# easy.
Have you tried the calstar 100j mag?
Always wanted to try the Ulua
Killer reel for flylining light line. Super smooth drags. Bump for Jeff.
Thank you to everyone for your input. It is much appreciated!
Not a spinning gear guy so I don't want to just drop cash for a Stella or Saltiga right off the bat, just wanted to know if I could get the feel...
That's where I'm at I want to give poppers a try. If I really get in to fishing poppers I'm sure I will get a dedicated popper set up.
My reason is I'm not really a spinning gear guy. So I was wondering if I could get by with what I'm comfortable with.
Calstar BTG 90J 9' and Calstar 100J Mag 10'
I've got a Daiwa BG 35 on my BTG 90J I have been tempted to try the popper on that set up.
Thanks for input, I recently won a popper on a charter and have been wanting to try it out. My buddy has a nice Spinning set up maybe I will see...
Accurate reels for bait fishing. Daiwa BG 35 for Jigstick.
Calstar BTG rods.
Has anyone tried using poppers on their Jigstick? I know most people use spinning outfits for poppers but wanted to know if Jigsticks can get you by.
Glad you won't take a low ball offer. Got a lot of overtime coming up so I'm definitely thinking about picking this up.
The longer it stays up the more I'm tempted.
Can't believe someone hasn't grabbed this yet. Bump for Scott.
Bump for good seller with a great reel for sale.
Yellowtailail on the Freedom in August.
Bump for Jeff, great seller!

Will easily fish 100 pound
Bump for Scott. Wish I had the $$ for this one.
Planning on doing that this weekend!!
Thanks I contacted Sam at Island Tackle and he has BTG 100J Mag blanks in 2 colors all black and black/ tan.
Thanks Will I appreciate the info!!
I've got a BX2-500, and a BX-870, with cast control. I'll give them a try, thanks.
Bring it! Better to have it and not need it than the other way around.
It will work but not ideal set up. Your set up with the bait runner will be you go-to set up probably. You might want to use the 655xh as a yoyo...
Are there any reel models you would recommend for throwing irons?
I don't keep sand bass. So I have no opinions.
Grilled Lingcod with trader Joe's sesame soy ginger dressing as a glaze.
I'm assuming it's a 9 foot version of the 6480. I know island tackle has the blanks in stock. I'm sure Sam has all the info on them.
If you want to throw lighter irons try the 690J. I prefer the BTG blanks for irons.
Ranger 85 is a great boat with a hard working crew. I have never fished the liberty so I have no opinion on that boat.
Calstar BTG 870
X2, I travel with my 90J out the the rear passenger window of my Dodge Dakota Xtra cab. My 6480 is like an 8' 90J to me.
Do the 100J Mag blanks come in the BTG series? I have been told that the GF is the only 100J Mag.
Anything still available?
What gearing is this reel?
I'm surprised you had to mark them down. If they were blacked out I would have given asking price.
I knew these wouldn't last.
How would they do as a 30# live bait rod?
Man that is tempting! I need something in this line class. Was gonna have a BTG-670 or BTG-270 8H wrapped but now I don't know.
I always listen to the crew's suggestions, they are the ones most familiar with the area we are fishing. They want us to catch fish so they make...
Start pricing a surface iron set up, jigs are the most fun way to fish in my opinion. Glad you enjoy fishing the iron.
That's a bad ass little reel GLWS.
Thanks for advice, really looking to fill that spot in my quiver with a good set up as I'm sure it will get a lot of use.
Thanks for input. I really don't do a lot of fishing for the three b's.
I mainly do offshore trips for yellows and tuna (2.5 day, overnights) and...
Thanks for input guys. I have a BTG 870 that is 15# to 40# rating, I really like it for 20# but I have never tried it with 30#. It has the same...
20% even if fishing isn't off the chain the crews work their asses off.
Nice looking rods. Too bad I'm a calstar guy.
Gonna have a rod wrapped to fish 30# I'm partial to Calstar GG / BTG rods any input appreciated.
Top Gun 80
BBQ with soy, sesame and ginger salad dressing as glaze.
X2 also like the combo of an Accurate 270 and calstar gg870.
Great idea! Might have to copy it.
Calstar BTG870 with an accurate 870
Ya mine is the gloss black. They did have a few custom color accurate reels so thought they would be worth a try. Good luck.
Check island tackle, just bought one there recently.
Just paid $559 for a black BX2-30 narrow no braid.
$450. Damn that's a good deal!!
Bump for great seller! Super easy transaction and gear shipped right away thanks Lucas! Buy with confidence guys.
Any of them custom color?
If you still have the 870 I want it.
Get well soon Lucas, I will take the accurate 870 when you are back on your feet.
Not sure of the models and sizes. I contacted them to find a black reel and they told me they had recently shipped black and ice blue reels to...
Contact accurate I believe they recently shipped ice blue reels to Melton Tackle
Anybody got one for sale.
Thanks. Should probably mention I'm planning on pairing it with a Calstar 7400xh. I mainly do trips 2.5 to 3.5 days long. I already have a bx2-500...
What do you suggest?
Dustin Tench on the Ranger 85.
Shawn Steward on Aloha Spirit.
Saltiga 40 or 50 star drag
I've caught lots of YT with megabaits. I've also had success on the slide for tuna. They can be successful rockfishing also in shallow water the...
So many good places with great seafood.
Walt's Warf in Seal Beach or San Marino Seafood make some awesome mussels and white wine sauce. Gin Sushi...
Wish I lived closure to you or you would ship.
For breakfast the southern style chicken biscuit. Also how about SOS with an over easy egg, my favorite breakfast when i was in the navy.
As a change up to the standard breakfast try Hawaiian style spam fried rice and over easy eggs.
Be able to do a sashimi tray for snack, you would be surprised how many anglers would donate a fish for that.
Yes I did.
Bob's Sporting Goods
The shop and rod builder are no longer in business so I really don't want that part covered. Just want to cover the old name and add mine.
The builder's info is on the side and name is on top I think the decal should work thanks for your help!!
I have covered with a sharpie. I want to add my name but don't want to get rid of original builders info on it. It's black background white lettering.
Bought a few used custom rods with someone else's name on them. Is it a big deal to remove the name and add mine?
Lime juice 1 part and Kahlua 2 parts add ginger if you like and crushed red pepper to your taste.
Usually you are traveling at night.
Some boats have open bunk rooms and some have state rooms but yes you will have a place to sleep.
Top gun 80 out of h&m
Anybody got one for sale?
Let me know if you got one you are willing to sell.
For 20 and 25 I fish a calstar gg 870 with an accurate 270. From there i jump to 40 and fish a Bob's Sporting Goods Special 77 (calstar btg 6480...
or just use MC swimbait.
anchovy colors for tuna, sardine or mackerel colors for yellow tail.
I've caught YFT and YT with swimbait. On the slide, and also cast and retrieve when bait was an issue.
2 oz or 3 oz lead head with a grub or scampi.
I have most successful days using glow.
There are jigs for every reason. Personally I like mega baits for tuna, and surface iron and yo-yo for yellows. For rockfish i like jig heads with...
I will text you during the week about setting up a pick up. Got to see what my work schedule is for weekend. Hope it's still available by then.
Nice, it's black on black right ? If so I'm interested.
Calstar GG90J, I love throwing irons.
Glow lead head with a glow swimbait, grub, or twin tail scampi.
Check out a GG6480
Brings new meaning to Homeguard Yellowtail.
The best jig reel ever!!
Nice looking rod GLWS
Calstar BTG 6480 with Accurate BX2 500.
Kill lots of fish with it. Thanks again!!
Super clean reel bought it from another BDr 2 years ago been on boat rides but never fished has 100# white braid
and 80# mono top shot $400 comes...
I like it paired with a GG270 8H from calstar.
Yo-yo rod is different than a jigstick.
wish i had the cash for it
It's more of a 30 pound bait stick but it could throw lighter jigs on 30 pound line.
Looks wise, ya it has a jigstick appearance
it's a 20 to 40 pound bait stick. If you want a jigstick look into 690j, or 90j calstars or seeker uluas. Truline harnell and saber all make...
Wish I had the cash for the reel, it would go good with the 197 I got from Ray.
I tried to change my name from yoemansnsg but wasn't able to.
I now only use this user name could you delete yoemansnsg?
Separate names with a comma.
