    CCA Social Coastal Tourney 4/24

Had a fun day of fishing Saturday in spite of the ocean and weather conditions... CCA CAL had their first of two Coastal Social Tournaments today... Kayak anglers were on the TourneyX app and the boaters had a live fish weigh in at 22nd Street Landing...It was so nice not being the tourney...

Great Choice... That new Outback, surf launches and paddles well...it has lots of storage and it looks like you have the new 180 kick-up fins...rudder controls are on both sides now and with the new position its a more responsive rudder...that new hull design has added enough stability to stand...

Inshore Shame on the Enterprise and LB report 3/20

Put 100' of rope on an upside down milk crate with weights in the corners...drop it over a few fish and send em down...no need to bother with the damn descender rig with one fish at a time on a party boat...

    Inshore New gear for rockfish

Hey Dan...another Salazar here...LOL I’ve been using the Tanacom 500 on my Hobie ProAngler Kayak for a couple of seasons now and I love it...I’ve got pretty bad arthritis in both of my hands so this reel makes it possible to enjoy those local delicious deepwater rockfish... I had my first...

You can have halibut only one way

Halibut sliced into small steaks then slit almost in half and insert a couple of fresh Basil leaves...wrap in thin sliced prosciutto ham and cook on the stove top in olive oil. ...Or...Halibut fried in Panko and topped with Mango Avocado salsa...YUM...! Oops...LOL...I guess that's two...

    Upgraded fish bag

It's a fine looking copy of the Reliable Kill Bag...LOL I've had this Reliable bag on the front of my various Hobie Pro Anglers for a number of years now and it still puts a sushi chill on my bled fish...! Smartest move I've made was using the "Cooler Shock" ice packs...they are the best thing...

    Spider crab questions

Clean em good before you cook em...only take the big ones... as there is very little meat in the legs and as everyone has said it's a PITA to get it out..."jaws of life" might be appropriate Don't boil the legs...everthing on the shell gets suspended in the boil and affects the taste...STEAM...

Catching shrimp for human consumption in SoCal?

With only a 1/2" opening allowed on any shrimp trap the DFW has made it impossible to try to catch any of our delicious local shrimp...as someone said previously...you can thank our wonderful spiny lobster resource for the restrictive local shrimp regulations. I've discussed this with the DFW...
