All my bait and jig rods, up to 50#, are 8 feet long. I feel like I can cast them more smoothly and they take up more line on the hook set, unless I’m using circle hooks.
The last trip I was on, 25, 40 and 60 seemed to be a pretty versatile quiver. 25 and 40 for fly lining and the 60 for sinker rig. The heavier outfits ended up staying in the rack, for the most part. I also use 50# mostly for yo-yo.
I like P-Line cxx. It’s strong and very abrasion resistance. A little stiff with some memory, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives. Maxima Ultragreen is good too.
