John I'm sorry I couldn't help you more, it has been a while since I got one... they tell you to have copies of three things before you go in and apply, then when you apply they ask for something else, what it is they want is the number for your visa and a copy of it. if they send it back and say you need a legal document, if this happens just include the numbers for your visa and a copy of it.
So, get the FMM first and use that number? Then do the TIP? Thanks for your patience with me. I want to get set up. I feel yellows and Dorado will be on the kelp paddies this season. Just got done surfing. Well over 70 degrees in the water and clean.

yes, when you apply for the tip they will ask for a few documents, when you get to the one you don't know what it is they want, that is it. or if they send your application back and say it is missing a legal document, that is what they are looking for.
Thanks. The Visa is the one you get from the border not the FMM?

a lot of confusion about that, but each way you go into the country has their own routine. for example going by air is different than by land. going in by water is new and is controlled by the navy and the one you get on line is through the navy. it is really a very easy process after you have done it one time and figure it out it is real easy.
I used to fish Mex all the time but have not since the FMM thing started. So, in order to even get a TIP I need to purchase a FMM even though I cannot actually even use it until I can get the TIP? I am guessing this is what is meant by VISA. Thank you.

I know it makes no sense, considering that your visa is only good for 6mo. and the tip is good for 10 years it really makes no sense, but that is how it is. took us a while to figure it out because they would just say we needed another legal document but never said what that document was... then someone here on BD told me you had to have your visa first and when we did that it went right through. good luck
Hope I did not come across as an asshole in my reply to your post. I apologize if you think that I was - not my intent.
