Offshore New Lo An Go Big or Go Home (GBoGH)

Good question vegasandre, If you noticed in my report that there were: 90 BFT NIGHTIME and 20 BFT DAYTIME. 90 BFT NIGHTIME: ALL caught on iron, mostly or 2/3 were caught on high pitch- vertical speed jigs called KB's from West Coast Jiggerz. They are available at almost all the SD Landings and...

Here’s a few more notes: Daytime bite still tough, about 20 total. Nighttime bite wide open, about 90 total. Typical New Moon bite pattern for the night but daytime a bit disappointing. It’s the most amount of BFT I’ve ever witnessed, massive schools, just miles and miles of foamers in this...

Thanks Rod! If our trip was a 1.5 we’d of had limits in the dark and have to head south or the Islands or Banks for another gamefish. The 1.75’s are and is hardcore fishing so you need to be mentally and physically prepared for the battle to win. Or Rock!

Thank you for the energy and effort! Whatever happens after, I believe is a blessing. Truth is easy to speak and write my friend.

Hey Surfgoose, I agree, “That’s a man who wants to catch fish if at all possible”. I have many friends that love, respect and fished with John for many years. They were the reason we chose the Islander for our charter after our AA trip was canceled due to supply chain issues. I respectfully...

That’s another good point! Also, sometimes when you’re fishing the deep ledges off the outer banks with giant squid, your sinkers are 16-32 oz’s or more depending on the conditions so you don’t want those sinkers swinging around and the added resistance. Rubber bands are a great release mechanism.

I’m normally going big or bust so the heavy duty is mandatory when I’m in that mode. During the day if the big boys are 300’ or deeper the thick rope is not a factor at that depth. If during the day we’re marking 300’ and above, fluoro crimped leaders disappear whereas mono is still visible. The...

There’s a couple ways to get a swiveled hook. One is to buy it that way from my favorite source, Quick Rig, out of Florida. Best hook made imho is the Charlie Brown Circle Hook from them. Unfortunately the regular 1/0’s to 4/0’s circles are currently unavailable but the 5/0-10/0’s swiveled...

The lights below were likely the American Angler and the Excel. I’m pretty sure neither one of them were launching any missiles. AA I know got new engines but maybe they’ve added something else to their arsenal, fish seeking missiles… 🙃

    Offshore Islander BFT Cruise Lines

Hi Fishboss, We initially built a prototype with the KB knife jig acting as the sinker but thinking it through and talking to James K(B) we realized if the BFT bit on the bait above that the jig would be a hazard swinging in the battle to possibly cutting our crimped leader and others lines as...

I used another version of it on 06.01, landed a cow on a private boat. I’ll post a pic later, maybe the story too.
