Penn fathom 10xnld is only 160$ brand new right now at west marine. I just sold mine for 135$ used. Id buy that and load it with 40-50lb braid. I had mine loaded with 40lb braid and would use 15-30 lb flouro and used it as my flyline reel for yellows, dodos, small tuna etc. Best bang for your buck right now forsure. I might have to repurchase one. I landed a 45lb bluefin with that reel and a rod rated 20-40. It was quite the fight but the reel handled good. Once you start fishing for bigger bluefin youre gonna need a bigger reel but Id start with that. Cheap rod to go with it maybe a turners californian tri helix. They are god rods made with phenix blanks and are a little more on the cheaper side.
