The 2022 Annual After Thanksgiving Halibut Classic will be taking place on November 26th! Put your Halibut fishing skill and knowledge to the test against 39 potential opposing teams. Sign ups are open now for $40 an angler, but the entry price will increase to $60/angler after November 16th. Additionally, there will be side jackpots available for each team to enter ranging from $20-$100 per boat. The After Thanksgiving Halibut Classic is operated and ran out of Dana Landing Market & Fuel Dock Inc.
The tournament is open to all teams with the intent to cap it at 40 teams. All teams entered from the previous year are guaranteed a spot and entry priority when their entries are received and postmarked on or before November 16th. After November 16th, entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis until all spots are filled. All teams that did not participate in the prior year are encouraged to enter early to better their chance of securing a spot. Entry this year ensures your team’s entry priority in next year’s event. All teams must consist of two or more anglers with no more than five.
The California Halibut is one of the most fun and challenging species to target locally. They are open to anglers year round, but the techniques used to target them vary throughout the seasons. As Fall rolls into Winter, we generally see Halibut move out into deeper waters, and yet again our technique for targeting them will change. As long as you remember to practice patience and not overthink your tactics, you can enjoy great Wintertime days on the water and fresh Halibut throughout the colder months of the year. This is a great time to challenge yourself and grab a group of buddies to fish in the Halibut Classic!
