Fred Hall Time
The Fred Hall Show starts this Wednesday March 5th and runs through Sunday March 9th at the Long Beach Convention Center.
After the horrible weather we had this weekend, attending the show is a good way to pass the time while waiting for condtions to return to normal.
So, let’s take a look at some of the things worth taking a look at while you’re at the show. Many companies will be offering deals at the show and some are giving away products as well.
Let’s start with the booth I’ll be working throughout the week, Batson Enterprises. Aside from offering daily seminars from some of the best custom rod builders in the business (including Doc Ski and Jim Trelikes), Batson will be giving away 20 custom rods during the show.
Each day, they will raffle off one rod for each of the following groups, Kids under 12, young adults from 12-17, adults and finally military personnel. For those interested in purchasing rod-building components, Batson will have rod kits available at 30% off retail pricing.
Josie Lynn Six Pack Charters will be offering show discounts on trips if you mention Bloody Decks when you visit their booth. Cousins Tackle will be giving people who purchase rods or hats an opportunity to win a free rod. Fish Taco Chronicles offers a killer deal by giving you a goody bag worth much more than the $15 yearly subscription rate if you sign up at the show.
For a list of all of the vendors offering specials for Bloody Decks members, visit our message board here www.bdoutdoors.com.
Regarding new tackle that’s worth checking out, there are a couple of products that are definitely worth a look. If you fish rockfish, you really need to check out the new Penn Squall 15 Level Wind. I picked up a couple of these reels earlier this month and they are awesome. Not much bigger than a baitcaster, but coming with a big power handle and holding over 300 yards of 50-pound spectra; this $119.95 reel is a no brainer for anyone that fishes rockfish.
MC Swimbaits has a couple new freshwater baits (with saltwater applications) that they’ll be carrying at the show. They will also be offering three colors of the new weedless bait that will only be available during the show. So it’s worth a trip to their booth to check them out.
Finally, BD Outdoors will be releasing some new clothing at the show. My favorite is the bluefin pin up girl image by Amadeo Bachar, followed closely by the new California state logo (with yellowtail) hat.
They will also have several other new items so stop by the booth and check them out.
Along with working the Batson Booth, I will be doing a seminar at the Berkely stage on Saturday at 5:30 PM talking about gearing up for summertime ¾ day and overnight trips.
Hope to see you there…
