Chasing Giant Tuna

There aren’t many anglers who can say they’ve battled giant bluefin tuna in the 800- to 1,000-pound class. There are even fewer who can say they’ve actually caught them. These fish are tackle-destroying beasts that will test an angler’s will and gear to the max. And that’s what the BD crew lives for… To battle big fish.

In the summer of 2012, the BD crew headed up to Prince Edward Island, Canada, to fish with the MacDonald brothers who own and operate Tony’s Tuna Fishing, but this year was different. Joining BD was Mike Medina, the lucky winner of BD’s Race to PEI Contest. Mike had never left the United States, and his biggest catch to date was a 50-pound yellowtail. We’d change that real quick.

Documenting all of the action was Mikey Torbisco, an editor and producer for the Spanish Fly television show. The final film that Mikey put together showcases everything that makes PEI unique, and the giant tuna fishery that has turned this small community into a premiere fishing spot. Oh yeah, Mikey also captured plenty of the shenanigans that you can always count on when you go fishing with the boys from BD. If you live to chase giant fish, you will love this movie.
