Everyone talks about being extreme now days, but fishing offshore for big saltwater pelagics from your kayak is living the definition of extreme.

Get ready for the second annual Extreme Kayak Sailfish Smack Down in Pompano Beach, Florida on January 16th – 18th.

Two days of fishing from kayaks to see who can catch and release the most sailfish will earn these anglers cash and prizes. There will also be a huge raffle to benefit the Broward Children’s Center and it will include a $1000 dollar gift card for a Hobie kayak from Nautical Ventures. Gopro cameras, Costa glasses, Yeti coolers and much more will be up for grabs. The tournament will kick off with a captain’s meeting and party on January 16th and boats will fish the following two days.

Last year’s tournament was a success and the winners surprised everyone as they had traveled from Oklahoma City, to compete with local anglers. Chris Thomas and Ryan Jones took first and second place with a sailfish release each and proved that you don’t have to be a local to compete.

Joe Hector, the tournament creator and publisher of Extreme Kayak Fishing Magazine is looking forward to another great year. “ Our summertime was full of successful kayak tournaments including the Battle in the Bahamas and the Summer Slams, Part 1 and 2. Great fishing, food and awesome sponsors make these tournaments a great time for everyone involved.”
