OFFSHORE REPORT

This time of year the name of the game is Yellowfin tuna and lots of big ones. July was a banner month for us here at Crocodile Bay with Yellowfin tuna well into the 100+ lb. range. As if that wasn’t enough to keep anglers on their toes the month of July closed out with several Dorado in the 50lb. range, just absolute monsters. Billfish over the last few weeks have been far and few in between but they are sure to make an appearance soon.
INSHORE REPORT

This month’s tides have allowed for wonderful inshore fishing for our angling guests. Successful fishing styles varied from drifting live baits off the stern, to casting a variety of artificial lures like poppers, plugs, and stickbaits. Topwater action has been on fire for roosterfish, cubera snapper, colorado snapper and bluefin trevally. The real brutes have been the cubera snappers, with several in the 30+ lb. range which have been released. If you haven’t had an opportunity to tap into one of these hard-hitting species make sure to come down and visit us.
While the above has made up the focal point of our fishery, we’ve been experimenting with vertical jigging here at the resort and have had great success with a variety of gamefish from amberjack, all kinds of snappers, groupers, tuna and more.
