State of California to Present 30X30 Plans and Answer Questions During Day at the Docks

CCA California Set To Moderate 30×30 Meeting Between The Sportfishing Community And The State Of California

March 13, 2023 – The State of California’s Ocean Protection Council (OPC) will take the 976-TUNA main stage during Day at the Docks in San Diego on Sunday, March 19, at 1:30 pm to outline the state’s 30×30 plan, and answer questions from the audience.

The main speaker will be Michael Esgro, senior biodiversity manager and tribal liaison for the OPC, and the meeting will be moderated by Wayne Kotow, executive director for the Coastal Conservation Association of California (CCA CAL).

“Day at the Docks is a super fun event, and I strongly encourage the sportfishing community to come out and enjoy the day. At the same time, I think the 30×30 meeting presents a great opportunity for anglers to learn directly from the source what the state has in mind when it comes to protecting 30 percent of the coast by 2030.”

“I want to thank Michael Esgro for taking the time to talk with the sportfishing community about California’s 30×30 plan,” Kotow adds. “Please bring all of your questions, and as moderator, I will do my best to ensure that everyone has a chance to ask about 30×30 and hear what Michael has to say.”

Presented by the Port of San Diego, Day at the Docks takes place against the backdrop of the San Diego Bay waterfront and legendary sportfishing landings at Garrison and Scott streets. Festivities get underway at 9 am to continue until 5 pm. Admission is free. To learn more, sandiego.org/explore/events/sports/day-at-the-docks.
