Avator 7.5e outboard offers a new way for boaters to Go Boldly.
Mercury Marine is making history again! If you’re looking for an easy way to explore the water, check out the all-new Mercury Avator 7.5e electric outboard. It’s packed with cool innovations. Learn more below.
Jan. 4, 2023 – Mercury Marine unveils their very first electric outboard at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The introduction of this electric outboard holds tight to Mercury Marine’s mission to make boating more sustainable, while simultaneously providing more opportunities for people to enjoy time on the water.
At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, Mercury unveiled its all-new Avator™ 7.5e electric outboard. It’s the first electric outboard model from Mercury and the first in a series to be officially unveiled in 2023. More-powerful Avator 20e and 35e outboard concepts, which are currently in development, were also displayed at CES.
“What an exciting moment for Mercury. We have an incredible history as the leader in outboard technology, and the Avator family builds on our legacy. In fact, the name ‘Avator’ is both a nod to our past and a look to our future. It’s a blend of ‘Advanced’ and ‘Thor.’ Thor was the first outboard ever from Mercury. It was a small portable model that kicked off the brand and led to so many exciting innovations. Thor has a lot of parallels with the Avator program. We’re creating an entirely new family of electric outboards that will redefine the category.”Jim Hergert, senior category manager for small outboards at Mercury
The Avator 7.5e electric outboard delivers clean, quiet power in a portable package that’s as simple to use as it is fun to drive. Swappable batteries, a quick-connect mounting system and intuitive controls make setup and operation a breeze. And a vivid full-color display tracks battery level and range, for confidently exploring the water.

Our Next Step Forward in Marine Innovation
Innovation is our legacy. Sustainability is our commitment. Across all our product lines, Mercury is working to redefine marine propulsion in ways that leave a positive impact on the environment. Electrification is one more step in our journey. Avator outboards make boating possible with no exhaust fumes and zero direct emissions.
Efficient Small-Boat Performance
Industry-first transverse flux motor technology delivers reliable, quiet power to get you where you’re going. The motor generates high torque with little effort, maximizing battery life and range while contributing to faster acceleration and more efficient overall performance than similar competitive products. With 750W of power at the prop shaft, the Avator 7.5e outboard is ideal for powering a wide range of small vessels.
Advancing Our Leadership
TUnveiling the Avator 7.5e outboard marks Mercury’s formal entry into the electric propulsion segment, with more electric outboard products to follow throughout the year. While electrification offers exciting new opportunities, Mercury remains committed to leading the industry in marine propulsion with both our internal combustion and electric propulsion portfolios. Be assured, we will continue to offer the industry’s most complete line of internal combustion marine engines.
