Plano Z-Series Tackle System For Saltwater Anglers

Plano Z-Series

Plano was started in 1952 by Warren “Pete” Henning who came home from a fishing trip with the desire to improve the current tackle storage trends.  He developed the plastic tackle box which quickly replaced the metal boxes of the time that rusted in a saltwater environment.  Since that beginning, Plano has come to organize and protect the valuables of people from all walks of life, but especially outdoorsmen.

Plano has one goal: To “Protect Your Passion”

The latest advancement in tackle storage comes from Plano engineers who listened to recreational anglers and professional fishermen as well.  They wanted to know what issues fishermen were dealing with around saltwater in order to develop the new Z-Series line of tackle storage solutions that would improve the current offerings.  One of the main issues brought up was the trouble with zippers.  They also needed to be water-resistant and able to sit on the deck and stay above the water present.  The solution was to design a zipperless bag that offered a splash resistant, easy-access entry to your tried and true Plano Stowaway boxes or the new Plano Edge boxes.  The top flap has buckles for secure travel and storage but can remain unclipped during the fishing trip allowing the flap to pull back for instant access to your tackle.  They expanded the series to include a Z-Series Backpack for easy travel and a Z-Series Wrap for organizing pre-rigged lures and other bulkier tackle.

All Z-Series items are built using high-performance TPE-coated waterproof fabric to shed all spray and rain that comes your way while on the water.  The Z-Series feature a Utili-Tackle Rail System molded, waterproof base that keeps your tackle boxes up and out of standing water found on the deck or in compartments on a rough day.

“One of the best things about the Z-Series tackle system from Plano is the fact that you can load up the bag with whatever tackle you will be using on any given trip.  It also has plenty of pockets for leader spools, tools, and other required accessories,” says Capt. Scott Goodwin of Merritt Island, Florida.  “We always carry a core set of tackle on the boat at all times, but I often enhance the day’s required tackle with additional specific tackle that I can load up and bring to the boat to make sure we are ready for the day’s intended species.  Of course, keeping that tackle dry yet handy is crucial to any tackle system.”
