Bay Scallop Description:

The bay scallop is a bivalve mollusk that lives in the shallow grass beds of the Gulf of Mexico to Cape Cod. These scallops are managed heavily and in Florida counties where they flourish, a distinct tourism season is driven by the collection of these easy-to-catch species. Snorkeling and picking scallops out of the grass is a great family activity and great eating too.
