If you have an educated thumb, a baitcasting reel offers you improved accuracy with your casts. But if your thumb doesn’t know when to put the breaks on, you’ll end up with a bird’s nest that will steal away valuable fishing time as you try to pick the mess apart. A new line of baitcasters from Daiwa, the , offer new technology to avoid backlashes and make you look like a pro.
The Magforce Z baitcasting reels are built with the line capacity and durability for heavy freshwater and light saltwater use. They also offer what Daiwa calls one of the most advanced casting systems ever, the Magforce 3-D System. With Magforce 3-D, the angler can switch from three positions depending on where they are fishing. Anglers can switch from All-Around to Maxbrake to Longcast modes to fit all their needs. The All Around setting is retty self explanatory, but it covers most general fishing conditions and applications. The Maxbrake setting is great for big lures into a wind and similar situations where you need maximum control. The Longcast is used for those situations where you need maximum distance, such as covering more water with top-water plugs. You can fine-tune each setting to your casting style or set them for maximum casting or minimal backlash under all conditions.
The system uses a moveable inductor cup on one end of the spool. As the spool speeds up or slows, the inductor cup automatically moves in or out of a magnetic field to adjust braking power and prevent the dreaded backlash, yet allow the reel to hit an optimum spool speed. For even greater control, you can adjust the overall strength of the magnetic field. The result is an extremely effective anti-backlash control.
The cool features don’t end there: These baitcasters sport eight bearings for smooth operation, more than 16 pounds of drag and a free-floating spool for ultimate casting.
Whether you find yourself fishing them for calicos, largemouth bass, sea trout or anything else, the Daiwa Z will make you look like a master with no backlashes.
