1 New Daiwa Tackle and Technology
Daiwa rods, reels and tackle are the first in our series of “Stuff We Like” here at BD. We are avid fishermen and we love to check out the latest and greatest products and let you know how we think they will apply to real life fishing.
2 Daiwa Demo Day
Recently Daiwa put on an event in SoCal and invited dealers and the media to see first hand how their new products feel and function. There are many new models coming out that include amazing new technology to make Daiwa reels smoother and last longer in the harsh elements of the fishing world.
3 Hands On Briefing
Daiwa representatives and Pro Staff were on hand to explain the new technologies and their benefits to tackle dealers and other visitors.
4 Huge selection of Daiwa reels
Daiwa has been busy making high quality reels for virtually every fishery you can dream up. Odds are very good that they offer the perfect reel for you.
5 Daiwa Rods
A great reel only gets better when it is paired up with a great rod designed to go with it. Daiwa has as many rod options as they do reels and each rod is designed with the same focus on quality, fishability and durability to make your money well spent.
6 The Coastal TWS Saltwater Baitcaster
Daiwa has been listening to what inshore saltwater fishermen have been wanting; a long lasting, high-speed reel with more line capacity and increased drag potential. This is exactly what Daiwa delivered in the new Coastal TWS saltwater baitcasting reel. Super corrosion-resistant bearings last 12 times longer than conventional ones, and the new 200 size reel holds 35% more line than the popular 100 model. The Ultimate Tournament drag can generate up to 15.4-pounds of pressure to stop saltwater bruisers from reaching their goal and cutting you off. This is one you have to try.
7 The Lexa HD Low Profile Baitcast Reel
The popular Lexa 300 and 400 low profile baitcasting reels have been very popular with inshore saltwater fishermen. Wait till they get their hands on the new Lexa HD. HD stands for heavy duty and that is what you get with stainless steel drive and pinion gears and six of Daiwa’s superior corrosion resistant ball bearings. The Lexa HD is available in 7.1:1 gear ratios and the Xtra Hyper Speed 8.1:1. The oversized EVA power handle lets you make the most of the power this reel has. If you’ve been searching for a super smooth, extra tough low profile reel, the Lexa HD is your answer.
8 Saltiga Star Drag Reel
The Saltiga Star Drag reel is a brand new design for the Saltiga conventional series. It includes the Magsealed ball bearing that makes the reel incredibly resistant to saltwater corrosion. The Saltiga has a one-piece frame and a machined aluminum spool to compliment its 9 bearing system. The gears are protected while in gear by Daiwa’s Spool Lock Mechanism, preserving the 6.4:1 gear ratio with each turn of the adjustable handle which features as oversized EVA knob for comfort and grip. These new reels are offered in two sizes in both right and left hand versions.
9 Magsealed Keeps the Enemy Out
Conventional technologies in reels were good, but not perfect and over time the corrosive elements found a way inside your reels. Rubber seals created friction that you could feel and that same friction wore them out over time allowing salt and dirt into the reel. Daiwa has finally solved the riddle with a very incredible solution. Magsealed means a magnetic oil is stretched across the tiny gaps in the hardware and is Daiwa’s answer to the long-time problem of water intrusion. It looks like something straight out of science fiction and it is proving to make reels smoother and longer lasting.
10 Magnetic Oil
Daiwa has a unique display of their cutting edge magnetic oil at many of the shows they attend. It is one of the most incredible things you will see at the show and I wish they would just sell the displays for you to play with. A magnet placed under the oil in the clear tube causes the oil to take on amazing patterns and follow the magnet like a puppy. How do they do that is usually the take away, but magnetic oil is more than entertainment. Magnetic oil is the key to the age-old problem of water intrusion into your reels. They use the magnetic oil to create a seal without actually having physical parts touching and creating resistance you could feel. Check out this video to see how magnetic oil works.
11 Just To Prove It
Magsealed parts are so good, Daiwa is willing to prove it. This rig dumps water right against the openings that would normally allow water and dirt intrusion, but not now with Daiwa’s high-tech magsealed components. Water is repelled without the use of physically touching parts which wore out and created friction.
12 Daiwa’s Exist Spinning Reel
Daiwa’s new Exist spinning reel is taking the world of spinning reels to new heights. Ultra lightweight and Magsealed against the harsh salty elements, the Exist offers smooth performance with less maintenance. Daiwa’s new Magsealed components keep saltwater out of crucial points, creating a longer lasting and smoother product. Currently offered in three sizes, there is and Exist spinner made for you.
13 Proteus Inshore Rods
The new Proteus rods from Daiwa are designed to tackle a variety of inshore species of varying size. You could tame snook, redfish, trout and tarpon on the East coast or tangle with calico bass or yellowtail on the West coast. These high modulus carbon graphite rods are built using Daiwa’s exclusive High Volume Fiber and low-resin design to make them lighter yet stronger. With laser-etched hybrid grips of cork and EVA and Fuji Alconite ring guides with K-shape Tangle Free frames. Proteus rods also feature a limited lifetime waranty. These rods are ready for battle, are you?
14 Hands On Testing
Anglers didn’t get many bites, but what they did get was to feel a hands on demo of Daiwa’s newest rod and reels featuring the most modern technology available.
15 J-Braid Line
Braided lines have revolutionized modern fishing and the evolution continues with Daiwa’s new J-Braid. Eight strands of tightly woven fibers make J-Braid into a much stronger and smoother line that is perfectly round in profile. This allows the braid to be more sensitive and cast further, making J-Braid braided line a winner for quality and value.
16 Ever Green Lures International
Daiwa is now the official U.S. distributor for Ever Green Lures International, Japan’s number one selling lures. Heavy on the bass fishing spectrum, but with many crossover lures to saltwater, Ever Green makes quality lures made to last and catch fish.
