Cousins New Rail Rods

Premium rod manufacturer Cousins Tackle Corp. has added five long-range “Rail Rod” models to its popular, American-made SE Offshore Series graphite composite rod collection.

Cousins New Rail Rods

These rods have been specially engineered by leading rod designer Wade Cunningham to provide the strength, action and features needed to beat big fish — including giant cow and “super cow” yellowfin — aboard long-range boats. “For more than a year, fishermen have been asking us when we were coming out with a rail rod,” said Cousins CEO Bill Buchanan. “We didn’t want to bring one out until we had created the perfect rod for the task. And when long rangers see and feel these rods for themselves, they’ll know right away that we hit the mark.”

This new family of rods was created for one purpose — beating big tuna.

Cousins’ factory composite glass/graphite blanks are outfitted with Super Heavy Duty Fuji BHBNG Silicone Nitride guides, triple wrapped and protected by three coats of slow-cure, UV-resistant finish. Each of these rod models also features an ALPS Centra-Lock machined aluminum reel seat, genuine Hypalon sponge rubber rear grip and heavy-duty black anodized aluminum gimbal. The extra-long fore grip features a “Super Gnarly” Rail Duty Non-Slip Rubber grip built to provide superior leverage and withstand the torque, rail dragging and stress that comes with beating giant tuna from a stationary boat.

Cousins is initially offering five models to meet the needs of long-range anglers. Three available 7′ models include the CRR-70XH rated for 40-80-pound line; Model CRR-70XXH rated for 60-100-pound line, and Model CRR-70XXXH rated for 80-130-pound line. Anglers who prefer 7-1/2′ models can choose the CRR75XH rated for 40-80-pound line; or the CRR75XXH rated for 60-100-pound line.

Retail pricing for these handcrafted American tuna rods begins at $430. They are being sold exclusively through Cousins’ network of independent fishing tackle retailers.

As with all Cousins premium rods, each new SE Rail Rod boasts an individual serial number and is backed by the company’s lifetime limited warranty and Cousins factory service.
