New California Billfish Series Website

The new owners of the California Billfish Series have redesigned and improved the tournament website, www.catalinaclassic.com, to provide anglers with everything they need to know about fishing the series and allowing teams to register online.

The California Billfish Series is the largest big-money offshore tournament series in California. Now owned and operated by the owners of www.bdoutdoors.com, the series promises to be the biggest event on Catalina Island this year. We’re bringing the good times back to the tournaments!

The series consists of three striped marlin tournaments, which all take place on historic Catalina Island. The Zane Grey Invitational kicks off the series, running from September 11-13, while the Avalon Billfish Classic and the Catalina Classic run simultaneously from September 18-20.

The new website provides anglers with all of the information they need for the ultimate tournament experience. The format of each event is unique with its own set of rules, so make sure to log onto www.catalinaclassic.com to read the rules and scoring, register online, learn about the history of each event, check out the schedule of events and get all of the island information you need for your trip.

As we get closer to the tournaments, the new website will be updated with more information, including tips and tricks to find more fish from the guys who have won the most tournaments, a complete article about the history of the Catalina Classic and how the series came to be, past winners and much more.

During the tournaments, the Tournament Committee will post live recaps, daily winners, photo galleries, video and more on the new site. We will be updating the website daily and providing participants and those who are following all of the action with a one-stop spot to keep an eye on all the action.

We’re also happy to welcome another sponsor into the mix, 5th Avenue Insurance. Scott Sherman and his team at 5th Avenue are boaters and fishermen, and they know what you need out of an insurance policy for your vessel. It will be great to have them on hand for the events. If you ever have any questions relating to insurance, these guys have got you covered. 5th Avenue is just one of several sponsors already on board for the 2011 Series, and we’re happy to have their support. You can find a full list of all of the CBS sponsors at www.catalinaclassic.com/series-sponsors.

The striped marlin sightings are already way better than than this time last year. We’ve heard of a few jig strikes at the Slide and 14 Mile Bank. It looks like the fish are going to show this year, so we hope to see you out on Catalina in September for the Zane Grey, Avalon Billfish Classic and the Catalina Classic.
