I’ve been wearing Aftco shorts to fish in and work on boats since the day I quit wearing cutoff jeans, which I just recently learned are known as “jorts”. Luckily that was at least 30 years ago.
After 24 years as a mate and captain, no shorts have ever been subjected to the constant sun, salt, slime and grime like my Aftco shorts. As a result, they are also subjected to wash after wash, and while after many years they might finally fade slightly, they still hold up and perform. I have a bottom drawer full of them, waiting for the day they might fit again. (Fishermen have to be optimistic)
Recently I have heard my favorite, traditional or “the old” style of shorts in the same sentence as the name “magnum PI”.
While Aftco shorts have evolved to keep up with the styles and trends of today, I guess I have not. Yes I still have plenty of the classics, but I have added some of the modern ones also. I admit they are very comfortable and tough as well. And now with age or wisdom, I do pay much more attention to the amount of sun I get, so the newer shorts offer more protection there too.
The new Aftco Tactical Fishing shorts are the latest in the evolution of style and function that the company continues to combine so successfully. They are made from durable 95% Poly and 5% Elastane, and have two way stretch ripstop dobby. I’m really not sure what that is, but I know if Aftco is willing to put their name on it, then it is the best material that they have found to date. They have an awesome cammo pattern with fish silhouettes incorporated. It also has a handy reinforced plier pocket.
How has Aftco excelled in blending style, function and comfort you ask?
It’s because they desire to learn and are willing to listen to their prostaff and customers alike. Aftco has committed to invest in the improvement of materials and technology. They are blessed with a humble pride in their work, and it drives them to always improve the products that carry the name of their family brand.
“Its much like fishing itself, those that work the hardest and are willing to evolve, though often perceived as just lucky, are the most consistent and best at what they do.”
