Abu Garcia decided to add two more sizes to its popular line of Revo Premier spinning reels. Using NanoShield technology, the reel sports components that are up to 50 percent lighter than aluminum and about 300 percent stronger than graphite, according to the company. The two new sizes, a diminutive PRM10 for light and ultralight applications and the larger PRM40 for bigger fish give anglers more choices when picking their next reel.
The Revo Premier is extremely resistant to corrosion, abrasion and cracking and it’s smooth as silk with 11 HPCRTM (High Performance Corrosion Resistant) stainless steel bearings. The bearings keep it a smooth operator and add to the life of the reel as well. The sealed Carbon Matrix drag with a max setting of 12 pounds provides consistent pull and a one-piece aluminum gear box strengthens gear alignment. The one-two punch of Abu’s Everlast bail system and slow oscillation create a smooth and reliable line retrieve that you can work all day with very little fatigue.
The new models bring the entire line up to four reels, including the original PRM20 and PRM30. The PRM10 weighs 6.9 ounces, has a gear ratio of 5.2:1, cranking in 25 inches of line per turn of the handle and holds 110 yards of 6-pound monofilament or 150 yards of 6-pound braid. The PRM40 weighs 9.0 ounces, has a gear ratio of 5.8:1 to reel in 33 inches of line per handle turn and holds 180 yards of 12-pound mono or 210 yards of 14-pound braid.
The Revo Premier spinning reels can be configured for right- or left-hand retrieve and retail for $249.95.
