The new Orra S spinning reel from Abu Garcia was born from the company’s Revo DNA and constructed with high-quality materials, to come up with a high performance, mid-priced spinning reel. The Orra S also makes a perfectly balanced match for the Abu Garcia Vendetta Rod.
Abu uses six HPCRTM (High Performance Corrosion Resistant) bearings and an instant anti-reverse bearing to give the reel a smooth feel when cranking. The X-Craftic alloy frame features a one-piece gearbox to keeps gears in line while the Hybrid Carbon Matrix drag improves drag performance over standard felt drags. Abu uses a brass Duragear and stainless steel main shaft and components to combat corrosion.
Slow oscillation provides even line lay, regardless of whether you use braid or mono. Abu installs what it calls the Everlast bail system for long-lasting performance. The machined aluminum spool uses a reverse corkscrew design that eliminates slipping of braided line without the use of rubber gaskets.
The weight of the ORRA S reels range from 7.9 ounces (ORRAS10) to 10.2 ounces (ORRAS40). The gear ratio on the ORRAS10 is 5.2:1 while the other three models have a gear ratio of 5.8:1. The spool on the ORRAS10 holds 110 yards of 6-pound test monofilament or 150 yards of 6-pound test braid. The ORRAS20 holds 130 yards of 8-pound mono or 190 yards of 8-pound braid. The ORRAS30 can carry 175 yards of 8-pound mono or 180 yards of 10-pound braid. The ORRAS40, the biggest of the bunch, holds 210 yards of 10-pound test monofilament or 210 yards of 14-pound braid.
The Orra S spinning reel can be configured for right- or left-hand retrieve and retails for $69.95.
