Fred Hall Show 2016 – Fred Hall Virtual Tour
This year’s Fred Hall was a huge success and celebrated its 70th anniversary since the beginning of this epic outdoor consumer show. The Long Beach Convention Center was ground zero for a ton of fun and savings.
A crowd favorite, Air Dogs were doing their thing going for distance in the pool, while the crowd enjoyed a variety of vendor delicacies in the food court.
The CCA of California enjoyed huge success at it’s second year of Fred Hall. Many people joined the CCA and received free entry into the Fred Hall show as well as a great coupon book, all worth way more than the membership.
The crew from Costa had a full display of the latest fishing sunglasses. New frames and the classics too, all sporting the clearest lenses on the planet so you can see what’s out there.
Mag Bay Yachts
The new Mag Bay Yachts 33, a California-built, state-of-the-art center console was on hand. Classic, custom lines adorn this modern fishing and cruising machine. If you are in the market for a boat, you must see this one!
A steady of flow of happy customers streamed out of the Turner’s Outdoorsman area with bargains on fishing tackle, boating gear and guns.

West Coast Marine
The crew from West Coast Marine had a pile of Parker Boats for patrons to check out. Parker Boats are very popular for their fishability and simple durability and West Coast Marine is the place to get one in California.
Steve Carson, Penn‘s living fishing encyclopedia was at the Penn Fishing booth to answer questions and introduce the latest products from Penn. Check out the new Penn Clash spinner, its not just for the East Coast anymore.
Pacific Boat Trailers
Pacific Boat Trailers had both their hot dipped galvanized trailers and the custom marine-grade aluminum trailers on display. Don’t skimp on the trailer, you need a Pacific Trailer so it will get you there and back.

Saltwater Bass Tank
Accurate Reels sponsored the rolling bass tank. Thousands of gallons of mobile saltwater, local bass and inshore fish species.
Accurate had all of their reels on display including the Accurate Valiant. These new, more affordable reels sport the same quality of their high end cousins allowing all anglers to experience the revolution of small reels for big fish.
New AFTCO Guides
AFTCO stands for quality and function, so it is no surprise when they revolutionize another aspect of fishing tackle. AFTCO has come up with top-quality, heavy duty enlarged roller guides for big game fishing. New Vallarta Fighting Belt
AFTCO‘s Vallarta is a new larger fighting belt for heavy duty stand-up battles. The 20-inch wide “Vallarta” stamped aluminum belt is specifically designed for battling giant blue or black marlin and super-cow sized yellowfin and bluefin tuna on heavy tackle.
Our friend Casey Parlette, a SoCal native, had a booth this year displaying his incredibly realistic and artistic sculptures of various marine creatures using bronze and wood. He also creates a line of titanium jewelry that he custom colors with heat making each piece one of a kind.

Hooker Electric Reels had an awesome display of their many models of heavy duty modern electric reels. They have motors that permanently attach to your reel or models where the motors are removable for when you want to do hand to hand combat. Great for daytime swords or deep-drop bottom fishing.
Maui Fish Printing
Brian Heustis (Brian left, his Dad right) of Maui Fish Printing was on hand with his amazing Gyotaku prints. He had some of his designs transferred to glossy aluminum plates which really made them pop. He also can print your trophy fish on traditional rice paper or aluminum. More great things to come from Brian.

Let’s Talk Hook Up
The fun spilled over into the nearby Hyatt Regency hotel with an on-location broadcast of Let’s Talk Hook Up radio show. Wayne Kotow of the California chapter of the CCA was giving a report from the show.
Hugely popular with the California anglers at Fred Hall, Phenix rods make many lines of their quality high-end rods. There was a steady flow of Phenix rods as the crowd passed by. You need to check these quality custom rods out.

Melton’s International Tackle had a ton of savings going on. Melton’s is your one stop shop for tackle, reels and accessories for any type of fishing. They have a California location and a huge mail order following.
MC Swimbaits and Savage Gear
A match made in heaven, the new Savage Gear weighted hooks and the latest version of MC Swimbaits. A much smaller version of the already proven MC Swimbait was released and will follow in the footsteps of its larger brothers.
Lowrance and Simrad Electronics
Talent does not begin to describe the work of Amadeo Bachar who has the ability to translate real-life realism onto canvas and then mix in an artistic flare whenever he wants. Really cool marine focused artwork and a very down to earth artist.
Crackerjack Charters in Alaska
Captain Andy Mezirow has been fishing in Alaska for many years and is the man. He brought his newest boat for Crackerjack Sportfishing, the Gray Light to the Fred Hall show and was on hand to talk fishing and tackle. If you are thinking of fishing Alaska, he is the guy to call.
Berkley had a wide variety of their products on display at the show. Including the game-changing Gulp baits. Once I tired them I became a believer and now it is on the first string in my fishing arsenal.
Garmin‘s presence in the marine electronics industry has blossomed and they were at the show with many of the latest innovations. One example was the Garmin Virb, a personal video camera taken to a new level of function and simplicity.
There was no shortage of live fish at the Fred Hall show. This giant test tank was full of largemouth bass and the Savage Gear lure demo was amazingly lifelike.
Furuno marine electronics continue to extend their long history of innovation and expertise in the marine electronics field. They came with the latest technology from this industry giant.

Well a personal favorite of mine from the show was the Amazonian destinations offered by Acute Angling. Many anglers came to Fred Hall to renew their membership to this crucial fish-finding tool for saving time and money.
