2015 Make Wish Tuna Challenge
We are now only a little over four weeks away from the 26th Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge. Time flies when you are having fun, and with the catch reports that are being posted, it looks like everybody is having a lot of fishing fun! There are big, big bluefin tuna pushing 200-pounds being caught just offshore, well within reach of all boats, big and small, and now a very good grade of yellowfin tuna and even some bigeye tuna are being caught, again very close to shore. Big yellowtail continue to be caught and marlin and dorado are also starting to show.
The last time big fish like this were being caught this close to shore, Babe Ruth was still hitting them out of the ballpark!
The Captains Meeting will be on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Silver Gate Yacht Club; fishing starts with lines-in at 5:00am on Saturday, August 29th and you must weigh your fish in no later than 9:00am on Sunday, August 30th. Our gala awards banquet will be on Sunday beginning at 10:00am at Silver Gate. If you can’t fish the tournament, you can do your part to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation by coming to the gala banquet. There will be raffles, silent and live auctions, food and fun. There’s something for everyone.
Please help us beat last year’s total so that we can help grant the wishes of many, many more deserving kids and their families.
