Our expert panel this year includes representatives from Fishdope.com, fishing radio host Phil Friedman and Captain Dave Hansen.
Fishdope.com. The name is now synonymous with “need-to-know info” that is required to find the fish. With ever-increasing fuel prices, knowing where the hot bite is will pay off big dividends in savings. But knowing where the fish are is only half the battle. Once your on the fish, knowing what they are biting and when can make the difference between a hugely successful trip (not to mention a tasty dinner and possible tournament win) or a long boring boat ride. Representatives from Fishdope.com will be sharing the latest information on the tuna bite. While it’s a couple of weeks prior to the tournament, learning the patterns that they see can help plan your tournament trip and stack the odds in your favor.
Phil Friedman is a Southern California fishing icon. He is the current producer and host of Phil Friedman Outdoors Radio and a regular contributing author to several Southern California fishing magazines. His resume also includes being the owner of 976-TUNA for 27 years! Who better to talk about tuna fishing? He also is the President of the Phil Friedman Outdoors Youth Program, a program dedicated to getting more children outdoors to learn and appreciate nature so that they can be the next generation of fishing ambassadors. Phil is a veritable wealth of knowledge on all things fishing, especially tuna fishing. Anyone can fish, but if you want to “catch”, then Phil will have some great tips for you.
Captain Dave Hansen is a self-confessed fishing fool and a Southern California sportfishing icon. He ought to be…he grew up at San Clemente Sport Fishing where his father was one of the founders of the Southern California sportfishing scene. As he likes to point out, his earliest childhood memories are not of riding his bike with friends, but instead chasing bait around the receiver. He has spent his lifetime plying the Southern Californian ocean waters. He holds a 100Ton USCG Master License and has captained all sorts of fishing vessels over the years. He now runs Captain Dave’s Saltwater Guide Service and is full of knowledge on running boats, using electronics to your advantage, fishing tackle and techniques, and everything else “fishing”. He is an encyclopedia of fishing know-how and he will be sharing many of his tuna fishing secrets with us.
So save the date and make plans to attend. It will not only improve your fishing tactics, but help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant wishes to children with life-threatening conditions.
