Here's some cool conservation news. The Billfish Foundation (TBF) recently launched a new database for anglers to enter tag data and access information. For more than 20 years, TBF has been running a billfish tagging program and maintaining the data. In that time, TBF has collected the world's largest private billfish tagging database covering the expanse of three oceans. Thanks to this new database, anyone can input tagging and/or release information from anywhere in the world. The system is called the Tag and Release Online Database or TROD and is free for both TBF members and non members.

With catch-and-release anglers in mind, the International Game Fish Association decided to add an all-release category.

Unlike typical world records, where a fish must be caught and weighed on land, this new category is based on length rather than weight. IGFA's All-Tackle Length category will include 60 freshwater and 67 saltwater species for new world records while requiring the fish to be returned to the water alive after measurement. With 127 new world-record vacancies available at the beginning of 2011, the IGFA's World Records office has already received a flurry of competition for these records.

The test boat was a badass 36-foot Yellowfin center console powered by triple 300-hp Yamaha outboards.
