SCRATCH THAT....fat lady hasn't sung yet. These last 2 days have been the most amazing duck hunting I have ever witnessed in my life. We did some scouting monday after getting stunned the day before and found a spot with just about every mallard in the area on it. I am blown away.
Whacked 5 limits yesterday and another 4 today. I think I know where im hunting through Friday (closer)
ill let the pics and video explain. all the videos are different groups of birds. oh, my buddy and I also doubled up on a fat GH with some jewelry.

He hit the water at 30 yards and i thought he got away after he dove. I couldnt see him so i walked over and found him like this...under 3 inches of ice.

The band got hit with 3 pellets. Almost knocked it off. Was banded in 2007 in Alberta, CAN
walking out a little heavier
Forgot camera yesterday so these are the two days combined... 9 limits.

bummer, apparently word got out and there was a herd of people in our spot (i guess when it sounds like artillery for 3 days straight, that kind of gives it away). We had guys trying to set up 60 yards from us and had no less than 5 different groups all around us calling horribly and flaring birds like no other. felt like wister
the big flocks must have moved on because we saw maybe 5% (or less) of the birds that we saw earlier this week. The birds from tues/wed/thurs were jam-packed full of corn, so they may have been prepping for their migration and took off yesterday when temps dropped 20*.
We ended up with 8 mally's. Also saw a chukar at the gas station when we stopped for drinks. He was just walking around and ended up wandering into the street and was looking to the right. I saw a minivan coming from the left and said "watch this, he's gonna get smacked"....sure enough, he never even flew and got clipped in the back of the head with the bumper. i rounded him up and finished him off. that was our comedy relief for the day.
Thats it for the season, hope you enjoyed the ride.
