    Andy Rooney's tips for telemarketers.

    1. Say hold on, put the phone down and walk away.

2, Phone rings - Nobody there.
hit ### 6 or 7 times as quickly as possable.
Confuses the machine that dialed the call,
and kicks your number out of their system.

    3. Return application forms back unfilled in their paid postage envelopes.

I am currently working for a new business; basically me and a partner doing a start-up. The telemarketers love us. Am going to add the hitting # key several times to the repertoire.

One very good way to improve chances that the telemarketers will 'miss' you (and result in the "phone rings, nobody there" scenario) is to simply let the phone ring 4 times or so before picking up. I've been told that the telemarketers' systems call up multiple numbers at the same time and the TMs simply talk to the first one who answers. The longer you wait to pick up the less chance you'll find a TM on the other end.

Now somebody please come up with a way to foil those "automated, prerecorded telemarketers". :FU:
