Re: Reality check for kayakers
I yak mostly in the bays and lakes so far.
I think the skiff might be a better deal on the Ocean. It is a good thing I do not live in La Jolla, because nothing could keep me from going after those homeguards. The yakkers just kill them down there. The four hour round trip commute keeps my yak in Newport Harbor.
A honeymoon couple in Santa Barbara got eaten/killed a while back. They found the yaks with teeth marks. Never forgot that story.
I took my yak to Monterey in NoCAl several years ago. That is a GW area, big time. It was creeeepy. Not anyone around , and I kept hearing the Jaws theme in my head. I caught one rock fish and headed in. Just to say I did it. Maybe I am a puss,
but I am alive.
Offshore, Inshore, Lakes, Rivers, Streams, Party Boat, MY Boat, kayak, or from shore. Just fishing all the time!

Re: Reality check for kayakers
They don't eat that much when they're that small, so you'll probably just bleed out in a painfull way and either wash up on the beach or slowly float to the bottom and become crab food.
Have a nice day

Re: Reality check for kayakers
I didn't want to say anything but sice you brought it up... What is the deal with the two foot rail on that kayak, I'm pretty sure most kayak's dont come with the walk around option!!! But you know I haven't seen them all, and why is the shark "belly rolling" around? Can someone please post a pic. of the big square kayak w/a that is in this pic.?

Re: Reality check for kayakers
Ha that's funny. Cool pic.Tie a flying gaff hook to the bottom of those yaks and market them as Great White surface plugs.
The most dangerous thing in the ocean to a yaker is... auto pilot. Power boaters chasing bird piles and the DOLPHIN out of Islandia.
