La Paz 7/16-20 photo report
Fished 7/17, 18, and 19 with Tailhunter in La Paz. Great operation and great trip, with plenty of decent-sized dorado, smaller tuna from 5 to 35 pounds, and one little striper.
Tailhunter’s restaurant/bar was outstanding--the view, the service, and the food (especially the Hawaiian poke).
Captain Jorge on the Las Arenas side was great, too. He’s a good guy, loves to fish, and runs one of the nicest pangas in the fleet.
Hotel Perla was clean and fairly friendly, with a nice pool and walking distance from most everything on the downtown malecon.
Flew Alaska and had no trouble (and no extra charge) with an 8’2” rod tube. No trouble either carrying on reels with line.
Only problem was on the way back, made it all the way to security screening in La Paz before I was told I couldn’t take hooks in a carry-on. TSA doesn’t care and Alaska doesn’t care, but the Mexican version of TSA says no hooks. Had to wait through the whole ticket counter line again, but was able to just check the back with the hooks. So be sure to put hooks and lures in a check bag on the way home.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Some great pictures there!!! La Paz is a great place to fish out of, for sure. The view out from Las Arenas to Cerralvo is just classic Baja Sur!!!Killing Fish-One Taco At A Time

Cool photos. You could probably sell the one with the beer mug and sun to Modelo.

Out of all those bad-ass pictures, the one that truly captures the "No Bad Days" essence of Baja is the "Sunset over the Beer Mug with the Malecon and the Bay in the Background". Fuckin' Awesome. Jeezus I need to win the Lottery.Jerry Moore
