I do my best but once in a while, things happen. Can anyone name one fishing fishing product that has never had a failure? I've seen rods break, reels seize, line snap, rings open, swivels fail, knots fail, gaffs snap, guides fall apart, hooks straighten, belts break, lures crack, wire snap, crimps slip and yes, even served wind-ons come undone.

If you anglers don't want to learn to make your own topshots, BHP topshots are the way to go.
Yes, I have heard of about 3 failures, but in quizzing crew or anglers, have not found conclusive evidence they were indeed BHP topshots in all 3 situations. I bought three BHP windons from an angler, and when I examined them, they were not Basil's topshots at all, but simply in his packaging.
They are as much of a sure thing as I have ever heard of.Pro staff for Catchy Tackle, Okuma, Soft Steel Ultra, Tufline spectra, and Seeker

I know David and was just fucking with him. As he pointed out, our fishing styles are totally different. As he pointed out, I do not need to cast my heavy gear from my own boat.
If I were ever to go on an LR trip, I would do so with David on board as he has a wealth of experience and is most willing to share. Who knows, maybe someday it will happen?
Now you, go back to reading Fred Archer books in your rainy North West cave.

My fear with using crimps has been that I may crimp them too tight. Since I have never had the opportunity to be tutored by a veteran crimper, does anyone have a photo of a sato crimp that has been done to perfection?

Next time I run into Tree's uncle from Arcata, I'll give him a sample and you and he can hook up and you will then see.
If you go on a crimp friendly boat like the RP, the guys will show you.Pro staff for Catchy Tackle, Okuma, Soft Steel Ultra, Tufline spectra, and Seeker

So does this imply that some of the boats are not crimp friendly? Which ones? Just curious.
