fished with some guys from south carolina on the intrepid a couple of years back. great guys and good fishermen.
those shows are amusing, if nothing else. why not waste an hour of your life watching the latest happenings on the redfish tournament circut? or how about fishing in a toilet for tarpon?
watching these assholes get all excited over catching a 60lb sailfish is pretty funny though.

It was a little amusing to me to see the crew running around the boat at night with butterfly nets so to speak catching flying fish, I would just throw a 8' class.... 16' diameter cast net on them and cinch it as soon as it hit the water. I would catch alot more of them that they can't reach. The flying fish will jump into the net but if you let it sink it will swim out from under it. I asked the question why not and was told cast nets were illegal in mexican waters, oh well.
My live bait situations are to chum with frozen minnows fish with the limited live bait supply. Our live bait takes a beaten getting to the offshore grounds to the point of being redfaced. Now inshore I will almost always fish live bait but that would be live shrimp also caught by cast net, and available year round. Our government regs are now so ridiculous now that I wouldn't be surprised they didn't put size and quantity limits on our bait fish, just a matter of time. During the closed shrimp season I can have a limit of live shrimp of 12 dozen per day and that is enough to fish a day...offshore most of our ground fish that we used for live bait offshore have limits and those were boney trash fish years ago. The Bluefish I use for Bluefin I am allowed 15 per day.

What's with the East Coast white boots?
Bottom line, "everybody fucks different", I have not seen the show, but in my mind West Coast trumps East Coast when it comes to fishing, but there is no right answer.

Different coasts, different fish, different water, different gear and different approaches.
I think we can all learn something from each other if we keep an open mind. There is an abundance of fishing knowledge and talent on all our coasts. I've enjoyed fishing all over this great country and others. BTW, doesn't Florida have both an east and west coast?
As long as we can keep fishing, it is all good!

Hey Asshat, talking about the fishing shows and the douches who host them. And your Mexico comment is baseless. All those resources in Florida the these show hosts go out and fish like 6 year olds at Lake Cuyamaca. That's my point. Maybe you should not be so butthurt because I dared to comment on the great East Coast TV show hosts.
And I've fished all over the world (but not while wearing LL Bean, Ducks Unlimited, Eddie Bauer, a visor, or any other douchebag apparel).

Having fished both Coasts I would love to see an East Vs West contest . Everyone thinks that fishing shows are the way things really are . The Real Fishermen are too buisy fishing to make shows . Why does Dennis Braid play test his tackle out here ? Some of my friends from out here have gone Longrange Fishing and there wasn't much of a learning curve . Do you remember the East vs West Mako tourney that was on a while back ? the Easties won . The Giant fishermen were using knotless connections long before it became popular on Longrange Boats . I use West Coast tackle all the time . Salas jigs catch most of what swims out here . Floating out a chunk takes as much talent as throwing a live Dine . I wish that we had more live bait but we catch plenty without it . The East Coasters that I fish with are more progressive than a lot of you think . I use a 7' and an 8' jig stick . On any given trip look in the rod racks on our Party boat and you will see plenty of Avets , Accurates , Pro gear , and Penns . I had an easy time adjusting to East Coast fishing Where else in the United States can you travel 70 miles and catch Yellowfin and Bluefin with 80 lb on Chunks ?

ROTFLMAO ........Man I hope the season starts soon......you guys need some time out on the water and stop looking at grade C fishing porn .....I have been fortunate and have fished in many locations and learned a lot from the local pros and I think any one of the "pros" can adapt to the techniques and catch fish.
but I have to agree most of the fishing hosts are really lame....the worst is Mark sosin he would in my opinion be "that guy" on every trip....and unfortunately we just lost the best, Jose Wejebe....the way we fish on the West Coast is unique because of the huge live bait capacity of the boats....there are some very skilled East Coast fishermen as there are some very skilled West Coast folks......but a show where the West Coast guys go fish on the East Coast using West Coast methods and gear and the East Coast folks fishing on the West Coast using East Coast gear and techniques.....that would be interesting...but use REAL fishermen not the asshat TV buffoons....some West Coast guys like...Spike, Juilo, Bruce Smith, Jesus,Wahoodad and Mike Lackey.....just to name a few.....that would be fun to watch.....
you mean to tell me they don't have 9 foot sticks on the East Coast??? surely you have surf casting blanks?? Lol

You would never be able to find enough dipshits on the West Coast to subject themselves to enough of the contrived drama to make one of those bullshit shows.
Saw one......tried to watch a second one and gave up. Men acting like little girls for a camera.C-Ya
