What's with the commercial guys claiming turf on the water. Show up hours after some dude has positioned his boat on anchor. Roll up and claim...."He's on our numbers"..........WTF?
I know huh? tellin' the little guy to move out off "his numbers" I'd be like "show me your "ocean deed" and I might move..maybe but probably not..

after I heard it more than a dozen times on lastnight's episode, I honestly had no idea what a "Googan" was...till now

Just remember---If they don't catch a fish today they won't be able to feed their families, make their mortgage and boat payments, or buy live bait for the next time they go out and fail. Have pity and pray for those poor bastards.

Imagine what a shit show it would be if we regularly saw 1000+ Bluefin at the 9 mile.

I don't think that Dave had to be prompted to stern that guy . We encounter a lot more Commercial Fishermen out here . A lot of them seem to think that because they are making a living by fishing that the Sportfishermen are infringing on their ability to provide for their Familys . Trawlers seem to be the worst . They won't deviate from their tow lines . We have lost 3 anchors .Two to Trawlers and one to a Tilefish Longliner and we are a 90' Partyboat . It didn't make any difference even though we contacted them on chanel 16 all three times . There is plenty of bad blood between the Comm's and the Sporties out here .

i thought that episode of the trawler grabbing the anchor was insane, but probably orchestrated. sounds like that really happens. that's ridiculous

They either told us that they had the right of way because they were trawling or FK off even though we were at anchor . Don't get me started with the Offshore Lobstermen and some of the Longliners .

It is pretty ridiculous that they think they own the gps co-ordinates. I can understand the bad blood, but those commercial guys are just flat out wrong. They don't "own" open waters.

Pretty lame if you ask me.
