there was 2 other same situations i know about, first hand.

i love the wieght, love the gearing, love the free spool, love the line capacity, love the look of the bx reels!!!

i cant affoard to hook anymore big fish on them though. too stressfull.

go with the ATD's or another brand.. (for BIG fish)

Which reel size were you using on the 235 lber?

All the Boss reels will handle 30 or so pounds of max drag pressure. If the reel is fished too much beyond this factory spec you will first find that there is resistance when turning the handle. It will also we harder to engage the drag lever.

I do not know what the load rating is for the anti-reverse bearing, but I will see what I can find out from our production manager. I do know the bearing was chosen because it can handle the load.

I mention all this because, like anything, if you use it beyond the specs there is potential for problem. That being said, if you fish it within the specs you can catch anything. Might have to play it longer, of course, if it's real big.

We have seen two bearings fail due to overload and overload only. Have seen a few others with maintenance issues. On the flip side I have heard of several tuna topping 200 lbs being caught on the large Boss Extreme 2-speeds. Plenty in the 100 plus range.
