Thanks
Might want to wait until Fred Hall show in Long Beach and make the trek down there. Good place to compare all sorts of stuff and maybe you'll find out more about Accurate's plans if you ask them there.
I have 4 Accurate BX2's and I like them, but for the price, I might opt for one of the Makaira SE's next. We'll see.
Not to stir the pot, but I'm one of he biggest anti-accurate people out there. I have blown AR bearings in 3 of their reels, got them fixed and promptly dumped them. A friend of mine recently sent in a reel with a blown AR bearing. SUPPOSEDLY they told him that they upgraded it with a retrofit. I really should open it up and take a look but that is what he said. He has no reason to lie and he really isn't swift enough (no offense intended really) to come up with such a story. I hope it's true because it would be nice if an American company can make a reliable small reel for big fish without play in the antireverse like the Avets that I could use for jigging big bluefin etc
originally designed to be vertical jigging reels
the smaller bx reels have been reliable
only the old ones were bust
but, no use getting one's panties in a bunch
i'm just sayin'
IF, this comes to pass
as i believe it will
it will restore confidence
and,
restore some of the best freespooling bait reels
back to the forefront

I'm traveling for business for the duration of the show, hopefully someone will post here.
Is there a general consensus as to when have the ARBs failed? Is this problem generated by a flaw in the product (please, no comparisons to other manufacturers having it in their reels at lower price points, I get that others reels have it. Just asking about actual instances of failure.); or is it the fact that small reels are being used to catch bigger and bigger fish using heavier drag settings than intended?
Is the problem "it's better to have a 6-speed transmission in a Kia than a 5-speed in my Cadillac, why can't my Caddy have that since it costs $25k more".......or is it "does the Cadillac really have issues with it's transmission?"

there are many instances of the ARB's failing in the bx reels.
i had a 265 lber on for about an hour and the reel failed 45 min into the fight. the handle went full knuckle buster at deep color. i got the fish, but a lot could have gone bad.
there was 2 other same situations i know about, first hand.
i love the wieght, love the gearing, love the free spool, love the line capacity, love the look of the bx reels!!!
i cant affoard to hook anymore big fish on them though. too stressfull.
go with the ATD's or another brand.. (for BIG fish)

hehe, yes Nick
but, the funny thing i can't help but notice
is that
THAT reel
(and,of course, being an excellent fisherman )
put you in that position
to land that fish
so, think about it
IF
that part of it was fixed
just sayin'
