Jim, I'm trying to swing a couple more rods Thursday for guys leaving Friday, so far, I'm coming up empty. . .
Shoulda jumped on it when I offered last Summer. . .
All I want is an honest appraisal of the rod. . .
I know sharp tongued, quick witted, LR vet, Fishybuzz is gonna let'er loose like he did on the Black Hole! That way the LR PC fisherman can get a good feeling of what to expect!Hook'em Brah!

The Excel has an X3H that lives on one of the kite set ups paired with a Accurate ATD 50w and 130 Jerry Brown Spectra. It has been in heavy rotation since the Braid 16 day that departed nov. 23rd. It has caught it's share of cows and lots and lots of fish in the 120-190 pound class. The boys have been putting it through the paces getting it right back into rotation asap after a fish is caught on it. It has performed flawlessly.

Oh, I know I do. I am blessed, and I don't forget it for a second. Plus, I am not sure I will even be able to use all I'm bringing.
Jim and I have just had some discussions about the Phenix rods, is all. He has been after me to give one a look. Truth is, though, I am grateful for what I have. If I gave any other impression, that's my bad.

Fished on the Intrepid New Year's trip at Clarion with a full quiver of Phenix's including X4h, X3h, X2h, and 760H.....caught several fish on all of them and they performed beautifully for me and fit my style of fishing very well. A couple of the deckhands pulled on a couple of my bigger tuna's with'em and remarked that they felt really solid to them as well. I'm not an expert and have nothing scientific to add to this discussion but thought I'd chime in with my experience. I fished 25' fluoro topshots with 130 on the X4h and 100 on the X3h and they both worked well. I'd definitely recommend the X3h and X4h for this application. Strong and lightweight are good features in a rod when fishing for long periods IMHO.
