LMAO......I remember when spectra was a no no....circle hooks laughed at....flouro carbon poo pooed.....no touching the rail ...the list goes on and on....
Have the all Super Seekers the Calstars and the Black Holes......now I'm trying the Phenix Hybreds....
I LOVE trying new styles and new gear........some people just let others do the R & D then jump on the bandwagon once it's proven.......I don't mind trying new stuff that doesn't work or needs working on... failing doesn't bother me just makes me try harder.....
Any reports blank failures from the boats????
can't win em all....

Just not worth the extra cost and risk for a slightly lighter blank on a rail rod, glad someone else wants to be the guinea pig. Phenix would be well served to get some loaners on the LR boats like the other guys do when they introduce new designs. Cost of admission on a 10-15 day trip is not cheap, plus all the other costs associated, and then time off work so experimentation is not in the cards for me when it comes to my rail rods. Don't see any major advantage other than weight savings, and my graphite composites are light enough for me to handle just fine, and the recoil is excellent so it's going to take more than just a few ounces in weight to get me to switch to a product with a lesser warranty and little proven history when it comes to cow fishing blanks.

When's your next trip. I will give you a rod to abuse, drop on the deck or whatever you scared of, FREE!
FWIW to you, although I doubt any amount of data will get thru your thick scull, loaners are going on a few choice LR boats, not prototypes, but actual production rods, a couple already have them. AND they are killing cows with them!Hook'em Brah!

I appreciate the offer but you are completly missing MY point... what are the advantages other than weight? Better recoil? Better durability? Better warranty? Better actions? Lower cost? OK so far we have: "the military builds their aircrafts, body armour and vehicles with carbon fiber composites"... and none of those items are tubular in shape and bending half of their length under load so what is your point, why should I buy/borrow a Phenix cow blank/rod?

Phenix is a great product. Roger from sav on brought a few to lend out last year on my 12 day independence trip . From that I bought 2 . Passed the word on to a few of my fellow east coast long range guys and I know they bought a few and loved them. This year Roger had a 4 x matched with a proto type 50 tiburon which he whooped ass on some large models . So the info is out there and the product is definitely growing in popularity

Who the hell bends a rod 45 dregrees, on the rail they bend the rod more! And the Phenix can take it!
Buy or not buy Phenix that is up to you. But don't come on a Phenix thread and restate antiquated ideas of what you think is wrong! Don't keep any one else from getting a Phenix by your old school skepticism!
Get one, pull one, fish one come back with a real time criticisms!
I commend Fishybuzz for his looking into, aquiring and fishing with an open mind. If he comes back from his 12 day with the negative critique of his Phenix 700X3H like he did on the Black Hole Cow rod, then I will respect that! And you can rest assured that the techs at Phenix will do their best to correct anything he finds wrong.
But my guess is he will find that his Phenix a perfect 100# tool to go with his quiver of fishing insturuments, there is after all no one do everything rod.Hook'em Brah!
