Five Star - Another big thumbs up...
I got a call yesterday... "Hi Arvin, this is Melanie from Five Star Fish Processing. We were cleaning out our freezer and found a tray of your yellowtail that a friend was supposed to pick up but never did. What should we do with it?"
I had shipped a box full up to Seattle, and was going to have someone pick up whatever was left, but forgot. I was soooo stoked, as I just moved back to LA and had to throw out my remaining 10 or 15 pieces. Went down to SD, fished the 1/2 day with Corb, then called Sarah who came and opened up to get me my fish.
What a friggin' class act. I just can't say enough about Five Star. They kept my fish for a year! And then called me to ask if I wanted it! And then opened the office just for me! Jeeeez! That's service!
I got to have some tastey tastey yellowtail for dinner and now have just about enough to last me until the next trip. Thanks again! and see you girls in June!

Exactly what is to be expected from Sarah and 5 Star.
That's just the way she does business, hence the loyalty.

How can that be?

Seriously, just fantastic quality coupled with the best customer service adds up to a very good choice for processing your fish!Pro staff for Catchy Tackle, Okuma, Soft Steel Ultra, Tufline spectra, and Seeker

I hope they are working Feb. 7th when the Rooster comes back in, and I hope I have lots of fish to give to them. They are a class act from start to finish.

Heads up... you might want to call them ahead of time and make sure they know you want to use them, especially if you want same day service. I say this because when I got back in 1/5 all 6 boats had hit the dock and we might have been last (I think we were). When I talked to 5 star I told them I didn't need it same day I just wanted to pick it up the next day (but I couldn't wait any longer). She said something about they were only taking orders by appointment because they were so busy. I don't know what that really means other than they couldn't get fish to me the next day so I went to Mario. (Never had a problem with Mario and he did a great job this time also. He even shipped some of it to 2 different places cross country.)
If you call in ahead of time and tell them you definitely want to use them maybe that classifies as an "appointment". I don't know but it might prevent you from getting jacked around by them.
Good luck on your trip.

Send some of that YT up to the PNW terrorist. And I'll send you my vintage irons.

Actually, I am going to use those for light tackle metalheads. Hope I don't lose one....

Not sure why someone said we couldn't get the fish processed by the next day unless it was frozen. I am wondering if you misunderstood Melanie or me, or if we did not understand your situation- it does get CRAZY down there. I do not remember the circumstances. I do know that if we are backed up I will tell you. I won't promise a quick turn around if it doesn't seem possible.
It absolutely helps if customers contact us ahead of time, but we take orders on the spot as well. When a customer calls or emails us ahead of time, we are able to prepare ourselves for faster service and it helps to get the customer's orders ready asap.
There are times when we cannot get processing done right away. It is like a restaurant, if you make reservations you have a spot saved for you... if you come for dinner without reservations and it is a busy night, you may have to wait longer. The restaurant can only make food so fast and only has enough room to sit a certain amount of people at one time.
I hope you all understand.
BTW- thanks Arvin for the nice words!
