Quick report. Headed out to the 238 with my friend Alfred Castro and his son Alfred Jr. Ensenada bait had the best anchovies I have seen in a long time. Bad thing was there were no mini macks in the mix. Headed for the 450 for nada and got called into a hot bite at the 238. Huge paddy but with no macks and our late arrival we didn’t even get bit. Headed away from the fleet and started trolling 3-4 miles (31.32.6 x 117.10.5) at got stopped on a double of nicer grade albies. We dumped one. Two minutes later another double and I started chumming like crazy and the 22-27lb. albies rushed the boat. Brought in the double and hooked 5 and landed 3 on bait. We also caught a couple of big skipjack as well. That was it for us for the day. We trolled through pods of dolphin for nada although I did see a boat get stopped. The 238/450/295 area is loaded with fish. Go get sum’.
Nice catch! I heard a guy looking for info on bait in Ensenada, and I thought I heard that Mike has since retired, and the last time we were there we went inside the harbor to some floating bait guy.....but I have not been in a few years so I wouldn't know how to find bait at this point. Do you know the scoop or what?
