do they really catch Bluefin that close to shore in New England? There is land in the background in one of the pics. Has anyone else hooked a big tuna while fishing for stripers and bluefish. I am skeptical.

great thunnus man! i've seen the lure that you used and it looks like you're using a high-quality ball-bearing swivel attached via a split ring to the lure, treble hooks held up....good work!
i'm guessing braid probably 65# power pro or something similar?
Shimano stella SW reel, right? maybe the 10,000 size?
just curious about the rod you have
thanks

Some tackle specs:
-Stella 20000SW (japan model)
-Black Devil 100 (OCEAN REVOLUTION)
-pe6 = 85#(Varivas)
-130 mono (Fisherman)
-Diawa Saltiga Slider (sardine color)
-200# spit rings(varivas)
-300# power swivel (spro)
PS
The way you see the lure in the mouth is the way the fish was landed... Only one of the six hooks found it mark as you can see... It was not placed there for a "glamour shot ". These fish can spit treble hooks like no other!!!
VERY VERY LUCKY!!!

Haha.
You girls are so silly.
Go throw a Stella 20k and you'll understand. These are THE NICEST piece of fishing equipment I have ever used.
Truly the Ferrari's of fishing reels. Long casts, unbeleivable speed and insane drag.
Not to say you aren't going to get hurt on a big fish, but you'll get them.
I'm a West Coast guy thru and thru, but you guys need to open your eyes. This spinning gear is KILLING big fish all over the world.
Age is ok in my book.
Nice fish Compa.
